31 "Agatha All Along" Details And Easter Eggs From Episodes 8 And 9 That You Might've Missed The First Time
🚨 There are obviously MASSIVE spoilers ahead for Agatha All Along Episode 8 and Episode 9, as well as WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness! 🚨
1.First, Rio mentions how Billy disrupts the "sacred balance" because he got another chance at life by jumping into William Kaplan's body. The "sacred balance" of things is also something Thanos consistently talked about when wanting to get rid of half of all living things.
2.When Agatha and Rio, aka Death, come face-to-face, she mentions that Agatha is walking a road with "another woman's son." After watching Episode 9, we know Rio is referring to Agatha walking a road and singing with her son, Nicky, and how she's been doing the same with Billy now.
3.Jen tells Billy that Rio let them know who she exactly was from the very beginning. Back in Episode 4, Rio tells the coven that she's THE green witch.
4.When they return to their shoes at the beginning of the Witches' Road, Agatha makes a joke that Billy should have the shoes of their dead coven members bronzed. Later in the episode, Billy has exactly three shoes bronzed in his room, and they lost three coven members during the trials.
5.Billy tells Agatha he doesn't know how he managed to jump into William Kaplan's body, and she replies, "You never do." This is similar to WandaVision when Wanda tells Pietro that she doesn't know how she created Westview.
6.When Billy is trying to connect with Tommy, you can hear Wanda and Vision's final conversation from WandaVision.
7.While seeing the boy drowning, Billy remarks that he has "no one to love him." In the comics, Tommy Shepherd, aka Tommy Maximoff, was the son of a divorced couple and he notably spent a lot of childhood in and out of juvenile detention centers.
8.Agatha finds the piece of the dandelion inside her pendant. In Episode 9, we see Nicky and Agatha blowing dandelions, too. Typically, dandelions symbolize hope, strength, and resilience. They are also often associated with healing journeys dealing with grief and loss.
9.At the end of the Witches' Road, Agatha emerges from her house's storm cellar, which is just another nod to The Wizard of Oz and how Dorothy never makes it to the cellar with Aunty Em and Uncle Henry.
10.Okay, I wouldn't have included this before yesterday, but creator Jac Schaeffer recently said that she listened to a lot of Taylor Swift while writing Agatha All Along, so yes, Rio telling Agatha "death by a thousand cuts" did make me perk up because of the Taylor song of the same name.
11.In order to try and escape Rio, Agatha creates a circle out of sand, which is similar to what Alice taught the coven in Episode 4 using her protection magic.
12.Then, Agatha remembers to get down after Rio calls her a "coward" because of Lilia's final words to her in Episode 7.
13.After Rio attacks Agatha again, she uses water to try and heal herself, just like when Jen created a potion out of water to save the coven in Episode 3. So, yes, Agatha learned something from every coven member while walking the Witches' Road.
14.When Billy appears to help Agatha, he wears a new superhero outfit that resembles Billy's Wiccan costume in the comic books.
15.When Billy gives Agatha some of his powers, you can see that Agatha is once again wearing her comic-inspired outfit that she first debuted in WandaVision.
16.When Agatha seemingly sacrifices herself to save Billy, I don't think this is the first time Agatha and Rio have kissed, but this is when Agatha takes in some of Rio's magic, aka the literal kiss of death. In Episode 1, Agatha even says that taking Rio's power would kill her.
17.After their kiss, Agatha "dies," and in Episode 1, Rio even comments that she prefers Agatha to be horizontal and in a grave.
18.Agatha's body is covered with flowers, notably purple ones. Violets and lavender, aka purple flowers, have long been associated with sapphic love within the LGBTQ+ community. Violets are considered "one of the oldest queer symbols."
19.When Billy leaves Agatha's house and puts up his hood, it mirrors when Wanda put her hood up and walked through Westview after taking down the Hex in the WandaVision series finale.
20.As we get another glimpse at Billy's room, you can see even more fun posters he has up, like the Buffy the Vampire Slayer poster for "Once More, With Feeling," aka the iconic musical episode, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
21.When Rio, aka Death, visits Agatha while she's giving birth, you can see that she's spinning a flower. Every time Agatha and Rio are together, Rio always brings her flowers.
22.After Agatha gives birth to Nicholas, she mentions how she made him from "scratch," hence where he got the name Nicholas Scratch.
23.The bell Nicky steals while luring witches to Agatha is something Agatha keeps. She uses it to start "The Ballad of the Witches' Road" in Episode 2 when the coven begins singing.
24.While in the woods, Nicky asks Agatha to use "her purple," aka her magic. In Episode 1, Agatha also calls her magic "purple" while confronting Rio.
25.We learn that "The Ballad of the Witches' Road" was a song Agatha and Nicky created that he later performs as part of the con to lure witches to Agatha. In Episode 1, in the bedroom Agatha created for Nicky during her detective hallucination, you can see the award Nicky received was for singing.
26.Also, Agatha and Nicky are a coven of two, which makes this moment in Episode 4 when Agatha corrects the lyrics for the Ballad, namely "coven two," all the more important.
27.When Rio comes for Nicky, she chooses not to use her true face, aka the skull, that we previously saw in Episode 8 when Agatha died.
28.Following Nicky's death, Agatha uses "The Ballad of the Witches' Road" for years to lure covens to their deaths as a con. In Episode 2, Alice literally tells Billy (and Agatha) that the Witches' Road is a con.
29.Okay, if you've stuck with me this long, here we go. Agatha appears as a ghost in Billy's bedroom after he figures out he created the Witches' Road. This is a comic-accurate depiction of Agatha. In the comics, not only is Agatha older, but she is a ghost at one point. Notably, in her ghost form, she helped Wanda/Scarlet Witch travel, you guessed it, the Witches' Road in the Scarlet Witch (2015–2017) comic book series.
30.You can spot a poster for The Moon tarot card on Billy's bedroom wall behind Agatha. The Moon upright means illusion and fear. The card often suggests a time when something is not as it appears to be, aka Billy's creation of the Witches' Road.
31.And finally, at the very end, Agatha and Billy set off to find Tommy. In the comics, Billy and Tommy find each other before setting off to find Wanda/Scarlet Witch in Avengers: The Children's Crusade (2010). So, if Billy and Agatha are off to find Tommy, then yes, I am hoping and praying this means we are inching closer to a Maximoff family reunion (and possibly a Scarlet Witch solo movie).
