Recently, I asked the BuzzFeed Community to share which films they think will one day become cult classics. Here are some of their responses:
1. Ready or Not (2019)
"It is hilarious, fun, and suspenseful with the right amount of scares. Samara Weaving is fantastic and is a great final girl. You really see the fucked up shit she goes through in her eyes. Bonus points for Melanie Scrofano as the hapless sister-in-law."

"Probably gonna get a bunch of haters out there for saying it, but I liked M3GAN , or Megan with creative spelling. There’s a crazy little dance scene when she is gonna slash someone up and it just all goes together in a weird way. I’m surprised it wasn’t more successful, but maybe give it 10 years."

Universal Pictures / Courtesy Everett Collection 3. Slotherhouse (2023)
"There’s a movie on Netflix about a sloth that is abducted from the rainforest and adopted by a sorority girl, only to go on a murderous rampage. It’s a pretty new movie and it’s a fucking weird. I have no idea what was happening, and I think it has every possible ingredient, from campiness to murder scenes, that could create a cult classic."

"Eventually, there will be those who see a deeper meaning in it and call it the most genius movie ever."

Warner Bros. / Courtesy Everett Collection 5. Do Revenge (2022)
"Do Revenge did NOT get the appreciation it deserved! The soundtrack, the color scheme, the costumes, the dialogue…. It was so cunty, IDK how else to describe it."

"Lisa Frankenstein really didn’t get the love it deserves. Such a fun movie."

Michele K. Short / Focus Features / Courtesy Everett Collection 8. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023)
"I think it's going to be a comfort rewatch for people and in a few years a lot of people will ask why there wasn't a sequel. Fun premise. Good cast. A ton of practical effects. Seems like a recipe for a sleeper hit turned cult classic."

Paramount Pictures /Courtesy Everett Collection 9. The Nice Guys (2016)
"Easily the funniest and most quotable movie I've seen in the past 10 years and a thoroughly original screenplay."
—poeticzebra671
Warner Bros. / courtesy Everett Collection 10. Cocaine Bear (2023)
"All I know is I never go to the theater but I saw Cocaine Bear in the cinema."

Universal Pictures / Courtesy Everett Collection 11. Annette (2021)
"The bonkers Sparks brothers musical directed by Leos Carax, featuring Adam Driver, Marion Cotillard, and their daughter, a puppet, was John Waters' film of the year in 2021, but otherwise largely ignored. The film features fourth-wall breaks from the start, deeply uncomfortable stand-up comedy routines, a marionette newborn birth, and explicit musical sex scenes. Absolutely a future cult classic, as decided by the King of Cult."

Universal Pictures /Courtesy Everett Collection 13. Idiocracy (2006)
20thCentFox/Courtesy Everett Collection 14. The Deliverance (2024)
"I think it's becoming a bit of a cult classic because of that one crazy infamous line that was written for a possessed Glenn Close to say. So far I've actually heard that line quoted by a Drag Queen (as in Katya of Trixie and Katya fame)."
—missmiddleearthling
Aaron Ricketts / Netflix / Courtesy Everett Collection 15. Blue Beetle (2023)
"It’s a great movie, but I feel that it didn’t really get a chance to build up hype because of Barbiemania being everywhere and the actors being unable to promote it because of the WGA strikes."

Warner Bros. / courtesy Everett Collection 16. The Terrifier franchise (2016-2024)
Cineverse /Courtesy Everett Collection 17. Doctor Sleep (2019)
"It’s a really good sequel to The Shining . I really do hope that people will give this movie its flowers."
