Her wedding to Christine Marinoni might not be imminent, but Cynthia Nixon can promise ahead of time that she won't be a drama queen leading up to the big day.

"No, no Godzilla wedding," the Sex and the City star, 44, said at last week's New York Women in Film & Television's Designing Women Awards at Macy's Herald Square.

Nixon and Marinoni haven't set a date and are still holding out hope that they can tie the knot in New York, where same-sex marriage is not yet legal. "We're doing two things," Nixon says. "We're doing as much as we can to make it legal here, and we're also looking into other options."

The couple, together since 2004, became engaged a year ago. Asked how life has treated her since then, Nixon replied, "I'm enjoying being engaged very much. I don't mind a long engagement, which this one is surely turning out to be."

She added: "I love my ring. I love to look at it."

Nixon has two children – Samantha, 13, and Charles Ezekiel, 7 – from her previous relationship with photographer Danny Mozes. She recently told The Advocate that she was thrilled when her kids started referring to Marinoni as "Mummy" as well.

"Maybe I'm just lucky," Nixon said, "but I feel like Christine is so amazing with our kids – because they're our kids."
