In her darkest hours, Channel Seven star Sally Obermeder feared she might not survive to see her beautiful baby’s first birthday.
But her radiant smile tells a different story today.

In an exclusive interview and photoshoot with New Idea – out today – the courageous television reporter reveals she has won the fight of her life and beaten the cancer that threatened to steal her future with tiny Annabelle and husband Marcus.
Make a difference: New Idea Breast Cancer Fund
"It’s actually with great pride that I can now say I’m a cancer survivor," reveals Sally, who was given the joyous all-clear just before her daughter’s big day on October 15.
It’s only 12 months since a routine check-up at the obstetrician led to the shattering discovery that Sally had aggressive, fast-growing, stage three breast cancer.
At what should have been the happiest time of her life, heavily pregnant with the IVF baby she’d longed for, she was suddenly facing a desperate struggle.
Kerri-Anne Kennerley reveals: My new battle
"It was like I was walking through a field of daisies and someone hit me with a baseball bat from behind.
"I didn’t see it coming," recalls the Today Tonight reporter, tenderly cuddling her ‘little ray of sunshine’ Annabelle, with Marcus by her side.
But now she’s been given the all-clear, she will never let her little girl go.
