Sienna Miller Says Having A Baby Helped Hollywood Take Her Seriously

While many women lament the fact that having a baby can seriously affect their career (1 in 2 will claim pregnancy discrimination), Sienna Miller claims the opposite happened to her.

Before you get too excited though, rest assured that we're talking about Hollywood here, so of course Miller experienced a different type of discrimination.

According to the actress, the industry didn't begin to take her seriously until she gave birth to baby Marlowe, now two.

"People don't want to see films with people they don't approve of in them," Miller told The Guardian. "And I think having a baby really changed everything, if I'm honest. I think that's where it began."

Miller has been the unfortunate subject of tabloid fodder for years after enduring two public breakups with actor Jude Law and an affair with married actor, Balthazar Getty.

Now one of the stars of American Sniper, her first "serious" movie, Miller believes the role came her way because she appeared to have grown up by giving birth.

"People who read the negative things [about me], the people who need persuading, are probably ignorant enough to assume, 'Well she's got a kid so she's serious now," Miller explained. "Which, of course, isn't the case. I'm still whoever I was. Maybe more mature, but the same. So amongst that ignorant, ridiculous area of my industry, I'm sure opinions of me have changed because I'm a mother now."

Miller added that for her, the stakes felt much higher after she had Marlowe.

"You have someone that you want to be proud of you eventually," Miller said. "You're aware of your own mortality. For me, as soon as I had a baby I had a vision of my life - and what was left of it."

Regardless of how she got where she is, it seems Sienna's star is only on the rise.
