Androgynous model Andrej Pejic is the latest star to partner with Myer. The Melbourne-born blonde joined fellow ambassadors Jennifer Hawkins and Jessica Hart at a press conference for the Bourke St department store yesterday, which is set to celebrate 100 years tonight.

"We're very proud to have Andrej here," said Myer chief executive Bernie Brookes, who added that Pejic is on an "ad-hoc contract" with the department store due to his busy international schedule. "He represents the future, a different and diverse view."

Pejic, who walked the runway for Jean-Paul Gaultier in Paris just last month dressed as a bride, is famous for his ability to pull off both men's and women's fashion on the runway.

The international model, who joined Australian modelling agency Chadwick's just two years ago, remains humble about his seemingly overnight success, explaining he's aware that "trends come and go".

"I think it could be part of a social movement," said Pejic. "I'm just enjoying the ride."

On the other hand, Brookes says Myer's deal with Pejic is simply a sign of the times. "Andrej represents the "universal," Brookes explained. "The way we tolerate and are patient with all kinds of differences now."
