Sophie Faulkner hosts Australia's biggest baby shower

How do you keep in shape?

I do Pilates at least once a week, I have a personal trainer once a week (before the kids get up) and I like to go for a run at the weekend with my husband or friends.

We hear that food is a passion of yours, what are your eating habits?

I have an exceptionally healthy appetite and cook around five times a week. I love super healthy, but tasty food and I like to indulge every now and again with a glass of white wine and the odd hot chip.

What’s your favourite naughty treat?

I love a glass of wine every now and again and anything potato based that’s deep fried with salt and tomato sauce!

Where’s your next holiday?

My husband and I have a trip planned to Hamilton Island to celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary. No children, just Mummy and Daddy time.

How do you maintain a positive outlook on life?

For me the glass is always half full, I always make sure I count my blessings. I have very healthy and happy children and a husband who I love; life could be a lot worse.

How would you describe your ideal holiday?

A family holiday with a mixture of adventure activities and relaxing with good food and wine.

What’s your beauty secret?

Exfoliate your face and body and always wear sunscreen.

What’s the best part about being a mum?

There’s no better job in the world, you don’t realise how much you can love another human being until they’re born. It’s a daily joy with lots of laughter; I wouldn’t swap it for the world.

How does it compare with being on the red carpet?

It’s like being on two different planets! As a mum I’m always multi-tasking in tracksuits, with no make-up on and pasta sauce down my top! On the red carpet it’s much more glamorous, I have much more time for myself, and I get to meet very interesting people.

As a busy working mum, how do you manage to work and family life?
It’s a constant juggling act! I have to admit, I’m a daggy list maker and for me, the only way to be successful is to be highly organised – that way I get to spend enough time with the children. It’s my number one priority.

Are you planning child number three soon?

No I’m not planning another baby, but I am planning a family dog soon, like a Golden Retriever. We’re blessed with two very healthy children (Jack 2.5 years and Isabella 6.5 years). We’re at an easier phase with no nappies, a sleeping routine and we can travel much lighter.

What else can we expect from Sophie in 2012?

2012 is shaping up to be a very busy year; I have lots of exciting projects planned as well as family time and travel.

So tell us what’s so significant about last week?

Last Monday marked the official ‘new arrival’ of Bupa, which saw the private health insurance brands MBF, HBA and Mutual Community commence trading across the country as Bupa.

What is the Bupa baby Campaign?

To help celebrate its new beginning, Bupa will give every baby born on the 14th of November a Bupa Baby Basket, filled with gifts for that will help make managing some of the health needs of a newborn that little bit easier.

What’s your favourite?

My favourite gift is the teddy bear with the Bupa Baby Day date on it and the infrared thermometer.

How many baskets are you expecting to give away?

The average of babies born in Australia each day is over 800 – so you could say this is Australia’s biggest ever baby shower!

Why has Bupa decided to give away so many gifts?

Bupa wanted today to be a celebration and what better way to achieve this than by providing a gift to every child who shares the Bupa brand’s official first day.”

To claim the Bupa Baby Basket, parents or their families simply need to send in photographic evidence of their newborn with something that clearly states the date of birth) to bupababy@bupa.com.au by 1 December, 2011.
