Zendaya Reveals She and Timothée Chalamet First Met When She 'Fell at the Airport' — and He Didn’t Help Her
"I've been forgiven and there's a certain amount of therapy and now we're here," Chalamet joked of his unchivalrous response to his 'Dune' co-star's airport mishap
Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet are recounting their rather awkward first encounter.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday, the Dune costars — who were joined by cast mates Florence Pugh and Austin Butler — revealed that they "technically" met at an airport before filming began on the sci-fi adventure movie.
"There was a weird airport meeting," said Chalamet, 28.
"Yeah, we were on the same flight, and I fell in the airport and that was technically our first meeting," Zendaya, 27, added, prompting Pugh to break out laughing.
Though Zendaya quickly joked, "I don't wanna talk about it," Pugh, 28, pressed her for more details.
"You fell? And did he help you?" she asked of Chalamet, who sheepishly shook his head and said, "No. No. Ignore it."
Now that the awkward moment was finally being addressed, Zendaya wanted to know, "Did you actually … did you see me fall?"
"I think I just saw Zendaya fall," Chalamet said, recalling what he was thinking that day.
Pugh was still perplexed by his seemingly unchivalrous response. "You didn't go get her and help her?" she asked the Wonka actor.
He exclaimed, "Well, I didn't know her! I didn't know what to do!"
Host Jimmy Kimmel was equally surprised. "Oh, wow. Interesting," he said, asking Zendaya, "And then no help whatsoever, huh? And yet somehow you got past that and bonded?"
"It's been forgiven," she replied with a laugh, prompting Chalamet to joke, "I've been forgiven and there's a certain amount of therapy and now we're here."
The four actors were visiting the late-night show to promote Dune: Part 2, which premieres in theaters on March 1. During their appearance, the group spoke about the bond they formed while shooting the sequel together.

"Speaking personally, I have great friendships with everyone here," Chalamet told Kimmel, 56, before revealing that Zendaya assisted him in setting up his first apartment in New York City.
The Euphoria star joked that she helped him bring "structure" to his living quarters. "Well, the vibe was very teenage boy," she teased. "And we just needed a few necessities — you know, cups and plates, knives and forks, things to clean. We needed some structure."
"There was a bed — no bed frame," Chalamet added, after Pugh suggested he didn't even own a bed before Zendaya stepped in to put things in order.
"We got everything he needed — all the big boy stuff," Zendaya confirmed.
