Yahoo Lifestyle Zendaya just joined the 'no trousers' club...while dressed for the office
Zendaya is the ultimate fashion diva. A true method dresser, she immerses herself in the style universe of each of her movie projects. In practice, this has seen her and stylist Law Roach dream up a series of killer looks for the promo tour of Dune: Part Two and, now, Challengers.
While the world of Dune was all modernist silhouettes and sci-fi touches, Challengers is immersed in the professional tennis world - and the resulting outfits are far preppier, drawing on sportswear codes.
As a result, the past few weeks have seen Zendaya delve into crisp, tennis whites: from a bridal-esque dress with a sporty finish to a retro, mock collar skater dress. She even recreated the bold, black and white Carolina Herrera dresses and white bead braids featured on Venus and Serena Williams' iconic 1998 Vogue cover.
But while Challengers is ostensibly a film about tennis, it's also about sexual power and tension, as its narrative pull comes from a love triangle at the film's heart. Which is to say, Zendaya and Law have found ways to add sensual touches to normally stuffy tennis attire. Some highlights include the plunging, tennis ball-adorned gown which she wore to the Challengers LA premiere after party and a midriff-baring green satin suit.
And now, she's back at it! Appearing on the talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, she rocked a double breasted, grey suit jacket (for the vintage experts, it was a pull from Ralph Lauren's Spring 1992 collection) worn over a crisp white shirt with a retro black and white pattern tie, a polka dot pocket handkerchief and a pair of crisp white stilettos.
The *inspired* look sees Zendaya hopping on the 'no trousers' trend - and caught the attention of the talk show's host, who commented; "You're dressed just like me, except I have pants."
