Zara Tindall says she’d be ‘horrified’ if her daughters got tattoos in future, despite once having her tongue pierced.

Princess Anne’s daughter, then 17, was dubbed a ‘royal wild child’ after showing off the metal stud at Prince Charles’ 50th birthday party.

Zara, now 38, reportedly got the piercing while she was studying at Gordonstoun boarding school in Scotland.

She admitted she wouldn’t be able to complain though, if her and husband Mike Tindall’s daughters Mia, five, and one-year-old Lena, got inked in future.

Zara told the September issue of Saga Magazine: “[Mike] absolutely hasn't got a tattoo. I'd also rather one of my daughters came home with a piercing than a tattoo because at least a stud can be removed.

“I wouldn't have a leg to stand on if they did though.”

The Queen’s eldest granddaughter appears to have removed the piercing in recent years.

Zara and former rugby union player Mike Tindall were married at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh, Scotland on 30 July 2011.

The bride wore an ivory silk dress, designed by Stewart Parvin and was loaned the Meander tiara from her mother’s jewellery collection.

Their first child Mia was born on 17 January 2014 and their second Lena arrived on 18 June 2018.

The family live on Princess Anne’s Gatcombe Park estate near Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire.

Born on 15 May 1981 to Princess Anne and Mark Phillips, Zara and her older brother Peter, are not a princess or prince. Their parents declined courtesy titles so their children could live relatively normal lives.

Like her mother, Zara is an accomplished equestrian and won a silver medal at London 2012 Olympics. She is hoping to secure a place in next year’s Team GB at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
