Zac Efron shocks with Aussie hair transformation

Zac Efron shocked Australians when it was revealed the actor had taken up residence in Byron Bay earlier this year to escape the coronavirus pandemic in the US.

Now, the actor has debuted his new look, proving he's officially now one of us.

The 33-year-old was pictured at Atta Boy Hair in Adelaide over the weekend, where he had the boys give him a true-blue Aussie mini-mullet.

Zac even gave owner Robby Lippett a little trim while he was there.

The barbers shared a couple of snaps from Zac's time at the shop.

"[Zac Efron] dropped into @attaboy_hair Kent Town for a tidy up today, so we gave him a mullet,” they wrote.

"He also gave the boss man, Robby, a trim - and made him feel 17 again," – a reference to Zac's 2009 film 17 Again.

The barbers’ followers were quick to comment with their shock that Zac had been into the shop.

"I can't breathe," one user wrote.

"Might have to ask for a 'Zac Efron' next time I come in," another said.

"Oh the jealousy," someone else added.

"He looks like a true blue Aussie now, with the iconic Havaianas thongs and everything," another user said.

Zac is currently living in Adelaide while he shoots Gold, the new Stan Original.

The movie is a thriller about "greed and the lengths people will go to secure themselves a fortune" according to Stan.

Zac plays one of two drifters travelling through the outback. They stumble across the biggest gold nugget ever found and dream of their imminent wealth.

They come up with a plan to protect and excavate their bounty with one man leaving to secure the right equipment for the job and the other staying in the harsh desert climate to protect the gold, while also coming to the realisation he may have been abandoned.

Up until recently, Zac had been spending his time in Byron Bay after escaping the pandemic in the US.

It was believed he and his Aussie girlfriend Vanessa Valladares split up recently, however, this has yet to be confirmed as the former waitress was spotted in Adelaide with the star recently.

After coupling up with Zac in July, the 25-year-old has reportedly since ditched her day job and shacked up with her A-lister beau at his Belongil Beach home.

According to TMZ, Zac plans on permanently relocating to Australia as he feels safer here than in the US where the coronavirus pandemic shows no signs of slowing down.
