The Reign star appeared behind the bar during a recreation of a famous Forgetting Sarah Marshall scene in which host Kristen Bell and Jason Segel, one of the nominees Sunday night, reunited in a callback to their iconic roles in the 2008 movie.
Though Coombs wasn't part of the original movie, he silently bartended as Segel jokingly bared all behind a towel before Julia Louis Dreyfus presented Jane Fonda with the lifetime achievement award.
"It's one of my favorite movies," Coombs, 41, tells PEOPLE. "It was a fun moment for me to be part of the bit!"

"Hey, I got a surprise for you," Segel joked, referencing the towel over his pants — but Bell wasn't impressed.
"It doesn't really have the same effect with a towel over your pants," she said. Segel responded, "I don't know. Don't be a pervert."
Segel pivoted directions, telling Bell, "So I was thinking, since I discovered you, I must be your favorite costar." She scoffed, rebuffing that he didn't "discover" her, though Segel said, "kind of feels like I did."
Bell continued to scold him to go back to his seat, with Segel ultimately admitting defeat.
