Wynonna Judd Brings Jenna Bush Hager to Tears With Message About Loneliness

It's been an emotional time at TODAY since Hoda Kotb announced her departure. But her former costar Jenna Bush Hager is hitting her stride on Jenna & Friends as she welcomes a range of guest hosts, from Kelsea Ballerini to Scarlett Johansson. This week, country super star Wynonna Judd sat in the hosting chair, and she had a powerful message for Jenna.

The 60-year-old singer compared her experience of breaking away from The Judds to launch her solo career to Jenna's new role hosting the TODAY show's fourth hour alone. Wynonna said, "I just have you on my heart. I watch you every day. I went on my own in 1992 solo, and I think about you so much. You're a mom and a wife, and I don't know how you're doing this. But I just wanted to affirm you that being authentic is lonely. And I can imagine you feel that way sometimes. But I just love you and I appreciate you and I admire you so much."

Jenna became emotional while listening to Wynonna's words. She continued, "We make it look easy, but the truth is we're paddling like heck underneath the waters and making it look good from here up...I just had to do this show—I don't normally do live TV because I'm afraid I'm going to go viral for the wrong reasons. But I just had to do this."

Jenna and Wynonna agreed that the experience is both exhilarating and terrifying. Jenna wiped away tears and said, "Oh my gosh, that's so beautiful. I haven't actually cried since Hoda left. I thought my heart was crusted over, but it's not!"

The TODAY show shared the clip on Tik Tok, and fans shared their appreciation for Wynonna's message, saying, "That's such a kind thing to share with her" and "To have Wynonna give you your flowers is magical."

We have to agree—Jenna is doing an incredible job, and we can't wait to see who hosts next!
