Wynonna Earp cast members Dominique Provost-Chalkey and Michael Eklund have opened up about how the show’s engaged fans, the Earpers, banded together to save the cult hit from cancellation.
The chat took place on BUILD Series Sydney and also saw the duo rave to host Danny Clayton about the offscreen community’s goodwill towards one another.
“I think [acceptance] is the common denominator for all Earpers I have met, all across the world. This show attracts such a special group of people and this show has become a family which is really refreshing,” Dominique said.
Michael added: “I call it a movement because that’s what it is, it’s not just a fan base...[Earpers] are just a loyal, loving group of people.”
The pair went on to explain how the show’s loyal audience rallied together in support when the possibility of its axing arose.
“We had a bit of a problem with coming back for season four,” she explained, before revealing the waiting period has been over a year long,” Dominique said.
“But this is where the Earpers become a movement and took it upon themselves to fight for the show that they love.”
