Woolworths shoppers have been left stunned by a ‘secret’ cheese room inside one of the supermarket chain’s Sydney stores after a clip of the discovery went viral on social media.
The store, located in the affluent suburb of Double Bay, was dubbed the “fanciest in Australia” by Ryan Paturzo, who shared the now viral TikTok clip.
“They have a a walk-in cheese room,” Ryan says in the clip as he takes viewers into the cheese room.
“Parmesan, brie, goats, Jarlsberg, Gruyère, Edam, Mozzarella, raclette, soft, hard, smoked, cheddar, blue.
“You name it, it's in here. Pick up your favourite wheel today. My fave's gouda!”
Clearly a cheese-lovers heaven, it left many shoppes wishing their own local Woolies would make the same upgrades.
“Every Woolworths should be like this...” one person comment, while another agreed: “I wish my local Woolies was like this.”
As it turns out the Woolworths Double Bay store was actually built six years ago with a cheese room, sit-down cafe, fresh bakery, in-house sushi production and a butcher shop, something that left even the locals baffled.
“I legit go to this Woolies all the time and I didn't even realise they have a walk in cheese room,” one shopper admitted.
“Since when does Double Bay have a cheese room?” another asked.
The local store manager told Nine News the cheese room has definitely been really popular with the locals.
And to top off the experience they even have a cheese expert come to help customers choose.
“Most mornings and weekends we have a cheesemonger available to help customers pick the cheese that best suits the occasion, or cut different shapes and styles,” Matthew Walsh said.
