Woman shocked by neighbour's bizarre request

We're told to love our neighbours but, for this particular woman in the UK, it might be asking a bit much.

The woman says she received an anonymous note from one of her neighbours with a bizarre request: to change the colour of her flowers in her front garden.

Yes, you read that right. Apparently, the woman's choice of orange blooms didn't cut the mustard in her nosy neighbour's opinion, anyway.

Instead of adopting an 'each to their own' approach, they took it upon themselves to ask the woman to replace the offending flora with a decidedly less orange hue.

The woman took to Reddit to share a photo of the handwritten message from the neighbour which begins innocently enough with a compliment - before taking a sharp turn.

"Hi, every year you put out some beautiful hanging baskets," the neighbour wrote.

"Do you think it would be possible to change the colour of the flowers please?" they added, getting right to the point.

"It’s a lot of orange!" they offered by way of explanation before suggesting a suitable alternative; "Maybe white and red or a mix of colours. They would look lovely. Thank you."

Well, Reddit users could barely contain their outrage at such a bold letter, with many coming up with cheeky ways in which the woman could decline her neighbour's request.

"I’d be tempted to paint my entire house orange after getting something like this," one user wrote in the comments.

"The whole house would be a bit tacky, but the front door might not be a bad idea!" replied another.

"Add more baskets with even more orange flowers," added a third.

One suggested turning the request back on the neighbour:

Radical suggestion: she can get her OWN baskets and plant her OWN red and white flowers.

Another user had some very straightforward advice: "Post a note back that simply says 'no'."
