‘Wild Cards’ Lands Global Deals After Renewal

Canadian procedural Wild Cards has landed a raft of deals following its renewal in Canada at pubcaster CBC. The series, which stars Vanessa Morgan (Riverdale) and Giacomo Gianniotti (Grey’s Anatomy) as an unlikely ex-con and sardonic cop duo who team to solve crimes. Distributor Fifth Season has shopped a Season 1 and 2 package of the show, which is on The CW in the U.S., to Talpa TV (Netherlands), Star Life (Portugal), Mediaset España (Spain), TV Joj​ (Slovakia), Warner TV (France, Belgium, Switzerland, Africa), NBCUniversal International Networks & Direct-to-Consumer (Africa), Now TV (Hong Kong), Wowow (Japan), Mediacorp TV (Singapore), Nine Network (Australia), Warner Bros. Discovery (New Zealand), and Yes and Hot (Israel). Season 1, which launched last year as CBC’s highest-rating new series in total audience terms, has gone to Play Media (Belgium), ProSiebenSat.1 (Germany), Disney in Bulgaria and the Middle East, and Quebecor Content (French-speaking Canada). The show is from Fifth Season affiliate Blink49 Studios, Front Street Pictures and Piller/Segan and was created by Michael Konyves. The deals comes ahead of next week’s London TV Screenings, with international executives already beginning to jet into a chilly UK capital to take meetings with production partners and distributors.

The ATS Team Rebrands & Opens Manchester Office

EXCLUSIVE: Transatlantic production company The ATS Team is rebranding, while simultaneously opening a new office in Manchester, UK. Going forwards, the company will be known as ATS. In Manchester, SVP of Production Nicola Griffiths will lead the office, building out international co-productions and original production efforts. ATS sees the nations and regions base as a hub for talent outside London. ATS — which already has offices in LA, Lisbon and London — is known for line production services on shows such as the Ninja Warrior franchise, Netflix’s Ultimate Beastmaster and NBC’s The Titan Games with Dwayne Johnson. It has pushed into original production over recent years, and the Manchester office will see Griffiths and her team working with local creatives and production houses. “We are proud to be expanding ATS with a new regional base in the heart of Manchester’s TV and film production industry,” said Danny Sanz, COO at ATS. “So many global productions are drawn to the city’s incredible talent pool, innovative studio spaces and diverse filming locations. As a firmly established creative powerhouse in the UK’s industry, Manchester feels like a natural home for ATS. Pernel Media Underway On French Crime Drama ‘Murders In Millau’

Pernel Media has entered production on France Télévisions feature-length drama Murders In Millau. The crime drama stars Jean-Pierre Darroussin (The Bureau), Elodie Frégé (Potiche), Nicolas Briançon (Spiral), Aurelien Wiik (Munch), Shemss Audat (Inès et Yvan), Gary Mihaileanu (Alice Nevers), and Stéphane Blancafort (Tandem). Here’s the logline: “Near Millau viaduct, a corpse wearing a strange devil’s mask is discovered. Links to a local legend intrigue detective Alice Nerval (Frégé). In a bid to solve the case, Alice teams up with her father-in-law Adrien (Darroussin), a disgraced gendarme for whom this is his last chance to prove himself.” Murders in Millau is written by Matthieu Savignac and directed by Jean-Marc Brondolo. Executive producer for Pernel is Samuel Kissous. France Télévisions Distribution is handling sales.
