Why Tyra Banks Moved Her Family to Australia
The supermodel has big plans to grow her business empire.

Tyra BanksSupermodel Tyra Banks is also adding business mogul to her multi-hyphenate descriptor. The 51-year-old mother appeared on Today With Jenna & Friends and shared that she and her partner, Louis Bélanger-Martin, moved to Australia with their 9-year-old son, York Banks Asla.

Tyra Banks at 2025 AO Inspirational Series“I’ve been going to Australia a lot because we were making a lot of our ice cream there in this big facility, doing our recipes," Banks said during the segment. "I just fell in love with it. Every time I went back, and went back…and the three countries that eat the most ice cream: America, New Zealand and Australia. So I was like, 'I’m happy here and they love to eat some ice cream, so, are we going to do this family?’ And we did.”
Banks also told Bush Hager that she's getting ready to open up a massive, 3,000-square-foot flagship store in Sydney for the ice cream company.

Tyra BanksBack in January, she made an appearance on an Australian morning show called Sunrise and revealed that her Los Angeles home was one of the many that were lost in the L.A. Wildfires. "I lost my house," Banks said during her appearance. "I haven’t really talked about it but, yeah, I have. I just didn’t want to pull a lot of attention to me, I feel that there's a lot of people that need that attention, so I haven't really talked about it, but I can't sit here and not tell the truth, so yeah we lost our house."
