The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be settling into life as new parents after the birth of their son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.

While 37-year-old Meghan Markle may have made her first public appearance since Archie’s birth at the Trooping the Colour over the weekend, the Sussexes are said to be enjoying their privacy at their Frogmore Cottage home in Windsor.

However, as the newest royal bub grows up, his public appearances will become more frequent - starting with his christening, which is expected to take place next month.

“We may get our first glimpse of Archie in about six weeks for his christening before the Queen leaves for Balmoral at the end of July,” a royal source told ELLE.com.

“Otherwise, the Queen historically returns from Balmoral in late October.”

The monarch’s annual summer stay at her castle in the Scottish highlands means the christening will likely happen before she leaves at the end of next month.

And although no official announcements have been made, the timing makes sense given how previous royal christenings played out.

When were the Cambridge children christened?

Prince George, born on July 22, 2013, was christened at The Chapel Royal, St James' Palace on 23 October.

His sister, Princess Charlotte, was around two-months-old when she was baptised.

Her christening took place on July 5, 2015, at the Church of St Mary Magdalene, Sandringham as Kate and William were living at their Norfolk abode, Anmer Hall, at the time.

Similarly, Prince Louis was also around two months old at the time of his christening. After his birth on April 23, 2018, the Cambridges celebrated his baptism at The Chapel Royal, St James’ Palace on July 9.

All three children wore the traditional royal christening gown, which is an Angela Kelly-designed replica of the Honiton lace original, commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1841.

While the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were present for George and Charlotte’s christenings, they were noticeably absent from Louis’ special day.

According to reports at the time, this was down to the monarch’s work commitments.
