Why Australian Women Prefer Sleep Over Sex
A new survey conducted by Prosomnia has revealed that Australian women are so sleep deprived, they’d choose an extra hour or two of shut eye a week over sex.
The study, which was unveiled on World Sleep Day, said that of the 1,000 people surveyed, 70% of women and 50% of men admitted they were more likely to opt for a good night’s rest rather than a roll in the hay.

It appears modern lifestyle is to blame for the results, with 40% of respondents claiming they get by on 6 hours a night due to their hectic schedules, and 20% admitting they check social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter whenever they can't sleep.
Furthermore, up to 28% of the population reportedly resort to alcohol on a nightly basis to help them sleep, with the survey revealing a vicious cycle of stimulant/depressant use.
“Stimulants such as coffee and energy drinks (57%) (are) the most popular ways to stave off tiredness during the day,” said sleep expert Dr David Cunnington, who added that Australians “need to understand” that poor sleep is not something they just have to live with.
“There are many ways to improve sleep quality and restore sleep patterns, so that (you) can feel refreshed again when getting out of bed in the morning,” Dr Cunnington said.
"People need to make time to wind down at the end of the day before going to bed, and ensure they allow sufficient time for sleep. Our irregular sleep patterns also reduce sleep quality and people need to find ways of resetting their sleep cycle and restoring their natural sleeping rhythms so they wake up feeling refreshed."
