Whoopi Goldberg Shares Bold Opinion of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez's Reunion
Whoopi Goldberg is sharing what she really thinks brought Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck together over the weekend.
In case you missed it, the former couple was photographed enjoying a full family outing with their kids as they dined on brunch at the Polo Lounge in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Sept. 14. The new images show Affleck, 52, and Lopez, 55, walking close to one another with two of the Argo director's kids and Lopez's twins, just shy of one month after the Hustlers actress filed for divorce from her soon-to-be ex-husband.
Photos of their reunion almost immediately went viral, as did a claim from an apparent onlooker who told Page Six the "Let's Get Loud" singer and Affleck were seated at a separate table from their kids and that the actor "couldn't keep his hands off" Lopez.
Days later, with the public interest still not dwindling, The View co-host decided to impart her opinion on viewers, explaining that it can be “very hard” to reunite with an ex when you're famous as the public will “sit around and … judge it.”
The 68-year-old went on, sharing on Monday's (Sept. 16) episode that she believes the only reason they got together this past Saturday is "because [their] kids wanted to."
As for the kissing allegations, the Sister Act star suggested an explanation for that, too.
"I’m assuming … everybody was doing their thing, and if you’re happy with your family, then you are affectionate with them," she said.
“It doesn’t mean you’re going home with them again,” Goldberg continued. “It just means, you know, ‘I’m not so mad at you that I can’t sit across from you.'”
The TV personality isn't the only one weighing in on JLo's love life. Her first husband, Ojani Noa, recently told the Daily Mail that he hopes the pop artist will “stay single for awhile.”
"Take 12 months off,” the 50-year-old told the outlet. “If she meets someone new, [she should] maybe keep it private and not get married again.”
"She has an amazing career and she’s a hardworking, beautiful woman, but when you’re with someone, you have to spend quality time with them and not think about being on camera," he added. "I would just say to Jen: 'You need to be yourself so you can find yourself.’"
