Whoopi Goldberg recalls making contact with Joy Behar's butt as they climbed stripper pole: 'She's sitting on my head'
Goldberg recounted "the only time" she has ever seen Behar paired with a stripper pole.
Whoopi Goldberg once took a little time to enjoy the view of Joy Behar's butt when the pair climbed a stripper pole.
Though The View moderator and 69-year-old Oscar-winning actress regrettably missed a recent episode of the talk show that saw Nathan Lane order a stripper for Behar's 82nd birthday celebration on the air, the Ghost star reflected on her own pole-based interaction with Behar from the annals of The View history.
"He gyrated, and we were told we couldn't do that anymore, right?" Sara Haines, 47, said when her cohosts brought up Behar's shirtless guest from the October broadcast, prompting Goldberg to reminisce about her own intimate encounter with Behar.
“The only time I have ever seen Joy and a pole was when I was trying to push her [on a pole]. Remember that? We were trying to get up on this stripper pole," Goldberg reflected. "I could not get her! Her leg wouldn’t go up, my behind wouldn’t, and I just thought, she’s sitting on my head right now. It was the wildest thing."
Behar then looked toward producer Brian Teta and asked him to find the tape of the moment, though it didn't materialize during the telecast.
The clip does, however, exist on The View's official Facebook page. The moment occurred on a 2002 episode of the program, with Goldberg appearing as a special guest five years before she joined the show as a permanent cohost. In the footage, Behar attempts to climb a stripper pole (after creator Barbara Walters also tried her hand at scaling the fixture) on the set of the show, with Goldberg getting behind her to give her an extra boost.
"When you're on a pole, one, it's not a two-person sport, and you do not phone a friend," Haines — an athletic icon who has deep experience with all-gay volleyball league — cautioned back at the present-day Hot Topics table.

"It's an amazing thing that this show can do all those things and everything we do, and y'all still appreciate what we do," Goldberg said before a commercial break. "Thank you, America. Thank you."
Goldberg's fond memory follows an earlier revelation on her own birthday episode, which saw her admit Wednesday during the live show that she likes "to be eaten from time to time" while discussing a giant wheel of cheese with her face on it.
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC.
