My Kitchen Rules' final three: the heat is on

Tears, tantrums, and tempestuous, hours-long dinners … it was an epic season for My Kitchen Rules. And as the show winds down to its grand finale on April 26, the last teams standing are nervously hoping they will be the ones who nab the $250,000 cash prize.

Will it be bantering sisters Tasia and Gracia? Adorable mum-and-son team Anna and Jordan? Or combative couple Carmine and Lauren? Whatever the verdict, each team believes they have what it takes. And in this week’s issue of WHO, they explain why.

“We’ve come so far,” says Gracia. “Everyone deserves to win. Everyone wants it as much as the next person. It all comes down to how we perform on the day. And with cooking, I don’t know if it’s luck or something else. People have bad days and good days in the kitchen. One bad day doesn’t mean you’re a bad cook, but …”

Anna and Jordan kept their cool all season long, though even they admit there were some tense moments. “We always had our meltdowns as we were drafting our plans,” reveals Jordan. “[At times] we had no confidence whatsoever.” Adds Anna, “We’re here because we really are the best. But you’re only as good as your last dish, so the choices we make will be important.”

As for Carmine and Lauren, who polarised audiences from the start with their blunt attitudes and, shall we say, creative approach to scoring? “The public only saw what the show wanted them to see,” insists Carmine. “Unfortunately for Lauren, she copped the brunt of it. It left people with a bad impression … they didn’t get a chance to see how compassionate we are, and how well we got along with the other contestants. Except for maybe Monique and Lisa!” He laughs. “What can you do?”
