Robert Downey Jr.'s son, Indio Downey, was arrested for possession of cocaine on Monday, WHO confirms.

Sgt. Arballo confirms that, after a traffic stop, the 20-year-old was arrested by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, West Hollywood division, and charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. He has since been released on bond, according to Arballo.

Downey was a passenger in the car, according to TMZ, which first reported the story and said officers reportedly saw him smoking from a pipe.

Indio, whose mother is actress and singer Deborah Falconer, was taken to jail, where he posted $10,000 bail and was released shortly after midnight.

Downey Jr., who has struggled with drug addiction in the past, spent time in jail and rehab before successfully completing his court-ordered treatment program in 2002.

"Unfortunately there's a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it," he told WHO Monday. "Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we're all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he's capable of being. We're grateful to the Sheriff's department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale."
