Beer pong, burgers and a dance off: Inside Meghan and Harry’s wedding reception
It was the chance to let their hair down after the pomp and ceremony of a traditional royal wedding, and former party animal Prince Harry and his new bride Meghan Markle didn’t disappoint, with a boozy evening reception at Frogmore House that apparently included burgers and the bride’s favourite – beer pong.
Just when the world thought they couldn’t fall in love with the couple anymore, the pair were total couple goals when Meghan – in a halterneck Stella McCartney dress – and her new husband zoomed off to the ceremony in a pale blue, 1968-model Jaguar.
There, they were met with 200 of their 600 wedding guests to really celebrate their big day.
According to E! News, a 12-piece jazz band from the deep south was there to set the mood, as guests including Elton John, the Beckhams, Serena Williams and George Clooney and his wife Amal (who had been left waiting outside for 10 minutes before they were finally allowed in) arrived.
Clearly a woman after our own heart, Meghan’s first dance with Harry was to Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody, with the guests treated to a sit down menu of delicious organic foods.
The couple added extra touches to the night, with reports a cocktail called ‘When Harry Met Meghan’ was served, and A-List guests running riot during the reception.

Meghan’s bestie Jessica Mulroney gave the world a sneak peek into the reception, with her stylist Rachel Renna sharing snaps and videos of Jessica getting ready and attending the event – complete with bow-tied attendees.

From comedian James Cordon acting as MC, to actor Idris Elba getting into the DJ booth, and George Clooney manning the bar to serve tequila to everyone, there’s no doubt guests were out to have a good time.
DJ Sam Totolee – the same one from Pippa Middleton’s wedding – kept the stars partying, with reports the thud of music could be heard over the grounds of Windsor Castle.
Proving royal events can end up just like our boozy weddings, the night saw everything from a dance-off featuring Prince Charles, Prince William and the groom underneath the $600,000 glass marquee, to slippers being handed out to guests with sore feet.
US-born Meghan included a very important part of her heritage in the festivities as well, with guests playing frat-party favourite beer pong.
It’s not the first time Meghan’s played bridal beer pong – it was a feature at her first wedding to TV producer Trevor Engelson, with the couple later divorcing in 2013.
“Serena Williams played beer pong like it was tennis. Everyone had so much fun with it,” a source told the Sun.
Meghan and Harry are said to have stayed glued to each other the whole night, before fireworks were set off at 11pm – with royal experts revealing how much fireworks reminded the royal of his late mum, Princess Diana.

The proper party animals – fuelled by late night snacks of burgers and fairy floss – headed to London hotspot Chiltern Firehouse for the afterparty, followed by the after afterparty at a “soundproofed private home in Chelsea”, according to the Daily Mail.
“It was the most magical night I have ever had,” one guest told E!.
“It was one of those experiences that money can’t buy. It was a special night.”
