The White Lotus season 3 has officially begun, and with it, a new murder mystery. The season premiere teased at least one eventual death, with the potential for more victims, which can only mean one thing: it's time to start working on theories of who dies in The White Lotus season 3.
It's early in the season, but in the wake of the premiere, here's what we know: The season opened up with what sounds like a potential mass shooting breaking out at The White Lotus. The only characters confirmed spared (so far) are Belinda's son Zion and Amrita, a hotel worker who is guiding Zion in meditation when shooting breaks out. Zion, worried about his mother, immediately goes towards the shooting and finds himself waist-deep in a pool of water as an unidentified body floats past. It's impossible to know which guest (or hotel worker) ends up dead, but that doesn't mean we can't speculate! Here are 13 White Lotus season 3 death theories, ranked from least to most likely.

Greg
As a White Lotus fan, I obviously would love to see Greg die a slow and painful death for what he did to our beloved Tanya. However, the fandom's collective hatred for this man is precisely why I don't think he's the floating corpse. That said, karma's a bitch and he could very well die this season.
Potential Killer: Belinda or Chloe, his girlfriend (or really, anybody with decency)
Belinda
Personally, I think killing Belinda would be too cruel, but she is definitely a possibility. After all, season 3 did kick off with her son expressing concern for her wellbeing amid the gunshots. Plus, in the promo for the season, she's seen asking whether or not she should call the police, which could mean that she stumbles over something dangerous. The kind of thing that could get her killed.
Potential Killer: Greg
Chloe
Chloe is with Greg, a known killer (or rather, a known employer of killers), so her time may be limited. Granted, I'm not sure Greg has it in him to pull the trigger, but desperate men do desperate things.

Jaclyn
I'll admit, I have very little evidence to back up this theory, but there's something wrong with Jaclyn. Sure, she treated her childhood friends to an all expenses paid luxury vacation, but the way she, Kate (Leslie Bibb), and Laurie (Carrie Coon) kept their conversation surface level is a red flag. Based on episode 1, the obvious theory would be that Laurie, feeling frustrated and jealous, takes it out on Jaclyn and/or Kate. But that's precisely why I don't think that'll happen. Kate, on the other hand...she could have a dark side.
Potential Killer: Kate
Chelsea
Chelsea is naive, joyful, and traveling with a guy who seems to be carrying around a lot of anger. That doesn't sound like a great combination to me!
Potential Killer: Rick
Timothy Ratliff
Based on promos, it looks like Timothy is going to be going through a major fall from grace (i.e. the loss of his fortune). And a man like that—who clearly takes pride in his ability to provide for his family and live a life of luxury—isn't going to go down easy.
Potential Killer: Himself (murder-suicide)
Victoria Ratliff
There's a not insignificant chance that all members of Victoria Ratliff's family secretly hate her, so I'd say her odds of getting murdered are pretty high up there. Plus, if my above theory about Timothy is correct, then I can see the patriarch killing his family and then himself in a messy murder-suicide.
Potential Killer: Timothy Ratliff
Rick
Rick is definitely up to something shady at The White Lotus, and we know it involves the owner, Sritala, and her husband. This promo suggests that he's the one who brings a gun to the hotel and he seems eager to get close to Sritala. What if he attacks only to be taken down by her many security guards?
Potential Killer: Gaitok
Mook
Mook is already beloved just by virtue of being played by Lalisa Manobal, so killing her off at the end of the season would definitely make a statement. That said, killing off a member of the hotel staff would be so anticlimactic after season 2, I'm not convinced. Still, she's too innocent not to be a potential victim. Sorry, Mook!
Potential Killer: TBD
Gaitok
Gaitok works in security, so his odds of getting involved in a gunfight are already high. Driven by his crush on Mook, he could decide to play the hero when someone starts shooting at The White Lotus, leading to his untimely death.
Potential Killer: TBD. At this point, it's unclear who would have any motive to kill Gaitok, so if he dies, my guess is he'll be an unintended casualty.
Sritala Hollinger
Rick has some weird obsession with Sritala and her husband and that obsession could turn violent at a moment's notice. And based on this promo, he's got a gun and isn't afraid to use it.
Potential Killer: Rick
Piper Ratliff
Thus far, Piper is the (white) character who is the most tied to spirituality and Buddhism, themes which will feature prominently in season 3. I'm guessing she'll be the one leading conversations on mortality and the afterlife, especially as she explores her faith, which could all be foreshadowing her death.
Potential Killer: Lochlan Ratliff and/or Timothy Ratliff
Saxon Ratliff
I know what you're thinking: It would be way too easy to kill off Saxon Ratliff, a truly awful character who has the vibe of a frat bro who secretly killed someone during hazing. But, hear me out. I could see a world in which all of his talk about sex and digs at his siblings get to be too much for baby brother Lochlan. And if Lochlan were to get his hands on a gun...well, I think we all know what could happen.
Potential Killer: Lochlan Ratliff and/or Timothy Ratliff
