'Wheel of Fortune' Host Pat Sajak Had the Best Response to a Contestant's Mistake
Pat Sajak's tenure hosting Wheel of Fortune comes to an end on June 7, but he's not leaving his longtime gig without showcasing his hilarious on-air antics, especially when it comes to unexpected blunders caused by contestants.
During the May 27 episode of the hit game show, the TV personality found himself watching players Luidgi Altidor, Rufus Cumberlander and Cynthia King attempt to fill in the blank letters and complete a phrase. When the letters started appearing on-screen and showing the sentence "_ _N'_ LO _ K AW _ _," the trio attempted to solve the puzzle.
When it came to Rufus' turn, he confidently stated the full phrase was "don't look away," leading Luidgi and Cynthia to immediately congratulate him. But unbeknownst to them, Pat was off screaming, stating that the guess was actually incorrect.
"No, no, no, no, no!" Pat yelled at the contestants, who were busy giving each other fist bumps as the timer ran out with the incorrect buzzer blaring. No, it's not correct!"
As the puzzle eventually revealed the correct phrase was "can't look away," Luidgi, Rufus and Cynthia all were shocked when they realized the error of their ways. This led Pat to proudly celebrate the fact he was right, leading to a hilariously unfiltered response.
"Everybody's congratulating everybody," he added. "And we get to keep the money!"
When the clip from Wheel of Fortune eventually circulated online, it didn't take long for longtime viewers to have thoughts about the entire exchange.
"It's hilarious because they all looked away celebrating lmao," one person laughed in the comments. "I had the wrong answer too, so I can’t quite blame em," another wrote. "I'm with Rufus with this one, I had the wrong answer too," a different follower added.
Needless to say, Pat's antics continue to be iconic, and we'll definitely miss them when he exits the series and Ryan Seacrest eventually takes his place as host.
