Why is this haircut called the 'Meet me at McDonald's'?
It’s the hairstyle that’s causing a stir all over the internet after a school banned boys from having it and now people are wondering what the ‘Meet me at McDonald’s’ cut is.
Great Yarmouth Charter Academy issued parents with a warning over the haircut, saying kids may be sent home from school if they show up with the style, as it’s ‘unacceptable’.
However, people still aren’t clear about what the ‘Meet me at McDonald’s’ haircut is or where it came from.
A picture circulating on Twitter seems to sum the hairstyle up perfectly.
It shows four unidentified boys wearing tracksuits, with each of them sporting the class ‘Meet me at McDonald’s hairstyles.
Kids who have the haircut usually have closely-shaven backs and sides, with a big mop of hair on the top.
It’s generally messy and tousled, with a lot of the boys looking like they walked straight out of Spandau Ballet.
Some of the boys even appear to have curled the tops of their hair, giving themselves an even more signature look.
As for where the name came from, that’s still unclear, however, YouTube sensation 13-year-old Joshua Tate claims he came up with the whole thing.
Joshua believes that it’s not called the ‘Meet me at McDonald’s’ but the ‘Little T cut’, the name Joshua calls himself online.
Little T told The Sun that he gets a perm every month to make sure his curls stay in tip-top shape.
And while he has no idea where the name ‘Meet me at McDonald’s’ comes from, his mum Donna reckons she might know.
"It's probably getting called 'Meet Me At McDonald's' because all the kids meet there,” she said.
