Wells Adams Wishes He'd Used Tom Sandoval's Armpit Stains To Banish Him From 'The Traitors' (Exclusive)

When the Traitors selected Real Housewives star Dorinda Medley as their first murder victim on Season 3 of the Peacock hit, they inadvertently sealed the fate of Wells Adams as well. The Bachelor in Paradise star arrived to The Traitors with grand aspirations only to be banished at the first Round Table, less than 48 hours after arriving to the Scottish castle.

The Episode 2 Round Table will go down in The Traitors history as one of the most chaotic. Eight of the 19 eligible players received votes with Adams being eliminated in close 5-4-4 vote over British royal Lord Ivar Mountbatten and The Real Housewives of Potomac star Robyn Dixon. Adams blames his elimination on Medley's absense.

"There was no kind of united front. That's why I got nailed," Welss told Parade exclusively. "The united front really happened the night before, where everyone was like Dorinda is a Traitor. Dorinda was the first person to get off the boat. People were upset when they came back, but she was so over the top that everyone was like, "It's little too much. You're acting." So everyone thought that she was a Traitor. Once they killed her, it was kind of all over the place.

With Medley gone, and the Faithfuls flailing and directionless, Bob the Drag Queen took the opening to target Adams, making him the first banished contestant of the season.

After his exit, Adams chatted with Parade about his elimination, his friendship with Chanel Ayan and why he wishes he'd noticed Tom Sandoval's massive armpit sweat stains.

Starting with a hard-hitting journalism question. Did you and everybody else in the breakfast room notice Tom Sandoval's armpit stains?
I don't know if I did. But watching it back, I was like, "Man, he's got two faucets just running at full steam." I wish I clocked it, because then I could have been like, "You're a Traitor because you're sweating a lot." And then I probably wouldn't be banished on the second episode. It's a calamity of errors on my part.

Rewinding, did you watch old seasons of The Traitors before you started? What was your strategy?
Yes, I watched the US ones, and my strategy was just be a likable person and have no one suspect me and then hope for the best. I guess I did that badly, too. I don't know. I don't know what happened. It all happened so quickly.

Did you have any sense that people suspected you of being a Traitor or that there were people were throwing your name out before you got to that Round Table?
No, Dylan told me maybe 10 minutes for the Round Table that people were saying my name. And I was like, "What?" I had no idea. It didn't make a lot of sense to me because we had had two missions and I had gone balls to the wall in both to get immunity. If you're a Traitor, you're not going to work hard for immunity because you don't really need it.

In the mission where we're getting the guys down from the birdhouses or whatever, I single-handedly got Wes down. I would say I got 90% of his coins. They didn't show it that way, but that's what happened. That's why Wes was like, "I'm gonna give you give Wells my immunity, because I was the one who got him down." I remember thinking, "If I was a Traitor, why was I doing wind sprints up and down this hill for these freaking coins?

I didn't get off the boat. If you got off the boat, then you probably are a Traitor because you don't care about being saved that night because you're fine. So everything I had done screamed to me Faithful, but apparently not to Robyn And then Bob the Drag Queen really grabbed onto that and ran with it.

Did you think about getting off the boat at any point during that first mission?
I was the one who's steering the boat. And my whole plan going in was being under the radar, like to shut up–which I couldn't do, obviously. So we get there, and they're like, "Oh, we need someone to steer it. And it needs to be someone who is a leader and can direct us." And so everyone voted me. I remember thinking, "I'm four hours into this game, and I have already screwed up my plan." So I knew I was kind of in trouble there.

There was this B storyline of toxic masculinity in that mission where the guys were telling the girls to get out because the girls weren't as strong as the guys. Bob the Drag Queen was like, "A guy needs to get off." Looking back, of course you got off and looked like the hero, because you were a Traitor the entire time. I did feel bad, but I had a weird job where I was steering. There was a time where I said, "If you guys want me to get off, and you think someone else can steer, then I will." Everyone was like, "No, you're doing a great job. Shut up."

Early on when you had your meeting with Alan, did you want to be a Traitor? Did you want to be a Faithful? What was that meeting like?
That was the first of a bunch of bad decisions. And here's the thing, if I did the show again, I'd probably do the same thing. I was completely indifferent. I was like, "If you guys want me to be a Traitor, I think I could do it. I'm married to an actress. So maybe some of her acting skills rubbed off on me. I think I'd probably be a better Faithful because my job on Paradise is to sit back, listen to everybody, give people advice. So I'd be a good judge of character and be able to suss out Traitors." Looking back, it makes more sense to want to be a Traitor because like, at least you're in control of what happens.

Has your wife, Sarah Hyland, watched the episodes yet? What are her takeaways?
She watched this morning. She's kind of short with me about it. I gotta be honest, I think she was trying to be nice. She was like, "Well, you looked good, but you know, anyway, I gotta go do this thing." She didn't want to talk about it. I don't really blame her.

Would you do the show again? Would she do the show? Would you want to do it together like Larsa Pippen and Marcus Jordan last season?
She should not go on the show. She's a real celebrity. I think she'd be really good at it. It's based on a game people play in Hollywood called Mafia or Werewolf. That's how I first found out about it. We play Mafia with all of Sarah's acting friends. I think she would be really good at it, but for me, I doubt I'd go back on the show. I obviously wasn't very good at it. I don't know why I would be asking for more punishment.

I loved your friendship with [Chanel] Ayan on the show. Have you two stayed in touch since filming?
I talk to her every single day. She loves a voice memo on DMs on Instagram. She messaged me today. She was like, "You have a podcast. I should come on your podcast." And I was like, "Yes, you absolutely should." It's a bummer. We were supposed to do press together, but because of the fires, it got stopped. I was supposed to see her this week, but she's in Dubai very far away.

I talk to her every single day. She is the most wonderful person I've met. Doing reality shows, you run into a lot of people who are not awesome. They're just like [Groans.] people. She is not that. She is this bright shining light that was so awesome to be around.

I stick by what I said. The Traitors are so dumb. I shouldn't have said it out loud, but they are. They got rid of Dorinda, who everyone thought was a Traitor, who we were gonna banish the next day. Then they get rid of Ayan who had no idea what's going on in the game. She couldn't figure out how to be a Faithful, so they were getting rid of people who like didn't make any sense. Get rid of people who are threats. I was so frustrated watching it back.
