“Welcome to Plathville”: Olivia Reveals She Spent the Night with Her First Date Post-Divorce, Says 'I Don’t Regret It'
"I very quickly learned that I don't really know a lot about a lot,” Olivia said
Olivia Plath is officially back in the dating pool.
The reality star revealed she went on her first date since finalizing her divorce from ex-husband Ethan on the Aug. 27 episode of Welcome to Plathville. Explaining that she was set up with a “friend of a friend,” Olivia said the night took an unexpected turn.
“We had dinner, we went to a couple bars, saw some live music, had some drinks, and then me — 25 years old, never having dated or had any of that kind of experience — I did not suspect anything when he said, ‘Do you want to go home and meet my cat?’” she said in her confessional. “Because he told me about his cat all night long, and I was like, 'I love cats so much, of course I do.'”
“So I very quickly learned that I don't really know a lot about a lot,” she continued. “I did meet his cat. She was very sweet. I saw her for all of like a minute. Let's just say it was the first time spending the night at someone's house.”
Although she admitted she was naive going into it, Olivia said it was a “good date” and “he was a lovely gentleman.”
“I don't regret it at all,” she said. “I think I was just very self-conscious. The first date was like being thrown into the deep end and realizing that I didn't know how to swim.”
After that experience, Olivia said she decided not to date in Los Angeles anymore and started to look for people who were interested in long-distance relationships.
“I have found that that's a really great way to keep a separation of my single, personal life in LA, figuring myself out and still having some fun when I'm traveling, going on dates, talking to people, but I'm not seeing them every day,” she said. “It's not going to take over my personal life. So I feel like that distance has been really great for me.”
Dating has also shown Olivia that she enjoys activities more than dinners and drinks, she told her friend as they made tiramisu and shared a bottle of wine. When she meets someone for the first time, she explained that she wants to see them in a more natural element.
“It does feel a little bit like, ‘Okay, anyone can be really nice when you're in a really nice setting and like you're dressed your best,’” she shared. “Like I want to go paintballing with someone and see how they like competition. What do you do in the time when it seems boring? Like, are you a good conversationalist or do you need the props of everything?”
Olivia then dropped a bombshell, revealing that she has been seeing a man who lives in a different state.
“There was this guy that I met working and he was like, ‘Hey, you know, I would really love to take you out for dinner and drinks, but also, looking at your social media, you seem like you're an activity kind of person, and if you'd rather do something different, you name it and I'm down, let's do it,’” she recalled. “And when a guy shows up seeing me for who I am and meets me right there, I think that's a great way up front to just set yourself apart.”
She added: “Then we went on a date and we had so much fun together when we were together. And physically, very attracted. It works. There's a lot of compatibility.”
As the producer noted that it “sounds like there might be potential,” Olivia nodded with a smile on her face and agreed.
