What to Watch this week: “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes ”invades theaters, and “The Circle” closes

Plus, "NCIS: Hawai'i" series finale, "Pretty Little Liars: Summer School" season premiere, and "Eurovision" kicks off.

Set decades after the previous films in the franchise, after Caesar's reign, apes are the dominant species living peacefully — until a menacing ape leader challenges order and tries to build his own empire, in The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Also in theaters: Chris Pine's feature director debut, Poolman, in which he also stars alongside Annette Bening, Danny DeVito, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

On TV, Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly star in the new series Dark Matter, NCIS: Hawai'i concludes its three-season run while Bob Hearts Abishola ends after five seasons, NCIS, The Neighborhood, and Palm Royale wrap up their seasons, and a new winner will be revealed on the season finale of The Circle.
