The 12 Best Watches at the Golden Globes, From Glen Powell’s Vacheron Constantin to Jeremy Strong’s Richard Mille
Hollywood is back in business, and A-listers came to show off their snazziest black-tie ensembles and matching accessories. Celebrities kicked back and sipped on bubbly from Moët & Chandon, perused through Robb Report‘s curated high-end gift bag, and laughed at each other’s expense as they were roasted by host and comedian Nikki Glaser. But first, they trotted their finest out on the red carpet, and there were plenty of notable watches worth discussing.
Trends mostly followed last year’s themes. That means men rocking tiny women’s timepieces like Colman Domingo’s 28 mm Omega Constellation, big showstoppers like Jeremy Strong’s OTT diamond-encrusted Richard Mille RM 72-01, and timeless classics like Andrew Garfield and Ke Huy Quan’s Jaeger-LeCoultre Reversos. There were also sporty tool watches such as Glen Powell’s Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual-Time and Morris Chestnut’s Panerai Luminor. Technically, there weren’t a lot of surprises, as women’s watches on men have been pervasive even in the sports community (even Dwyane Wade has been spotted in a tiny Tiffany & Co. Eternity watch), and actors like Strong and Jeff Goldblum are often known to up the ante with diamond-encrusted “look at me” watches. But it’s not all smoke and mirrors: We’ve seen some of these celebrity trends translating to the streets, and we expect that tiny gem-set watches will continue to rise beyond the confines of celebrity red carpets and events. For now, though, enjoy the Golden Globes’ best horological flexes.

Jeremy Strong in a Richard Mille RM 72-01
Jeremy Strong has established a reputation as a stellar actor, not only in Succession, but also in this year’s The Apprentice where he nails the essence of Roy Cohn—President-Elect Trump’s former lawyer who passed away in the ’80s, but was known for his “take no prisoners” approach. Cohn was an eccentric and Strong has also become known for his singular vibe in Hollywood. He was not intent on blending in for the night’s festivities. He donned a mint-green velvet suit with matching glasses and bucket hat and paired it with a diamond-encrusted Richard Mille RM 72-01, worn on a forest green rubber strap. A complicated watch for a complicated man.
Morris Chestnut in a Panerai Luminor
Presenter and actor in the CBS series Watson, Morris Chestnut was intent on standing out at the big event in a cherry red suit, tie, and shirt. While his Panerai watch was more demure comparatively, it was still one of the larger watches worn on the red carpet at 44 mm. Despite its reputation as a tool watch, notable for diving, it still showed strong versatility as evening wear. And, with a steel case and an Incabloc anti-shock device, it can certainly withstand getting knocked around at the after-party.
Mohammed Al Turki in a Cartier Santos-Dumont Skeleton
A dapper Mohammed Al Turki Wore a 43.5 mm by 31.4 mm 18-karat rose gold Cartier Santos-Dumont Skeleton watch paired with a black-leather strap to accent his chic ensemble. Al Turki may be a lesser-known figure to Americans, but he came dressed to impress. The film producer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist is the CEO of Red Sea International Film Festival and is known for promoting film and talent in the Arab world. He is also known as a producer for Arbitrage in 2012 and 99 Homes in 2014.
Perhaps a nod to his around-the-world presence, Al Turki’s Cartier Santos features a golden airplane as a micro-rotor between 8 and 9 o’clock, which is a tribute Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont for whom Louis Cartier famously made the Santos model at the turn of the 20th century.
Andrew Garfield in a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso
Golden Globes presenter Andrew Garfield did an excellent job of avoiding the standard black tux while still looking classic. He paired his olive green peak lapel Gucci suit with a timeless Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Monoface Small Seconds. Aside from the fact that the Art Deco model is always a classic on the red carpet and manages to work well with his ’70s-style tux, its flip-face also makes for a good distraction when sitting through the three- to four-hour-long show.
Colman Domingo in an Omega Constellation
Nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture -Drama for his role in Sing Sing, Colman Domingo works his creativity on and off screen. Known for embracing fashion, the actor is fearless with his style. He showed up in a pussy bow scarf worn with a polka dot dress shirt under his tux. On his hands? He had a giant Boucheron cocktail ring on his pinky and a tiny 28 mm Omega Constellation watch with blue treated meteorite dial and a diamond bezel set in steel and 18-karat Sedna gold. He is one of a handful of male actors who chose to rock an ostensibly female watch—an ongoing trend not only in Hollywood but also with athletes.
Matt Rife in a Rolex Day-Date ‘President’
A rising star in comedy, Matt Rife was proud to show off his 18-karat yellow gold Rolex Day-Date “President.” And why not? Considering he wasn’t paid to wear it and, he presumably bought it himself at retail, it is, in fact, an accomplishment. Perhaps he bought his golden rollie to celebrate his show on Netflix, Lucid—A Crowd Work Special. If all goes well, maybe it won’t be his last crowning achievement.
Jack Lowden in an Omega De Ville Trésor
Jack Lowden donned an impeccable tux for the Golden Globes to celebrate his nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for Slow Horses. He accented his elegant look with an equally sophisticated and quietly chic watch—a 40 mm Sedna gold Omega De Ville Trésor with a slate gray dial and matching alligator leather strap. The best looks don’t have to scream to make the strongest statements.
Ke Huy Quan in a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso
Everything Everywhere All at Once actor Ke Huy Quan showed up at the Golden Globes as a presenter in Thom Browne suit serving a classic tux look with a slight edge. It was the perfect match for his traditional 18-karat pink gold Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso with a bit of tourbillon flare. The tourbillon is assembled by hand in JLC’s grand complication workshop. But Huy Quan is hiding the fireworks on the flip side of this piece. The flip side features the company’s decorative prowess with guilloched gold bridges and a sunray-engraved cradle with a mirror-polished disc.
Michelle Yeoh in a Richard Mille RM 07-01
Presenter Michelle Yeoh is a longtime fan and friend of the Richard Mille brand, and we must say, for someone so petite she really wears the pieces well and manages to make the sporty timekeepers look right at home with her elegant black tie dresses. Her RM 07-01 Automatic Winding Intergalactic watch is certainly the most serious womens’ timekeeper of the evening—even rivaling some of the gents watches in terms of watchmaking complexity. Its calibre CRMA2 is a skeletonized automatic winding movement with hours, minutes, and a variable-geometry rotor set in the company’s proprietary Carbon TPT casing. Its otherwise macho technicality is dressed up with inset diamonds on the dial and case mimicking the glittering stars in the cosmos. A perfect watch for a female Hollywood powerhouse.
Jeff Goldblum in a Vacheron Constantin Traditionelle Moonphase
How can you not love Jeff Goldblum’s glittery turquoise tux, diamond brooch flare, and western bowtie? The Tinsel Town legend has always been a character unto himself, and he didn’t disappoint for this year’s Golden Globes. He wore the glitzy ensemble with sleek Vacheron Constantin Traditionelle Moonphase watch that comes completely covered in diamonds. Meticulously snow-set, the gems cover everything from the dial to the luges to the bezel and even the crown. The complication only needs adjusting every 122 years—an ageless classic bursting with joie de vivre just like Goldblum.
Rhenzy Feliz in a TAG Heuer Aquaracer
A relative newcomer to the big screen, Rhenzy Feliz has been making a name for himself on Hulu in Marvel’s Runaways. in Disney’s animated film Encanto, and most recently, The Penguin. And he’s come to be seen and is showing he’s not afraid to play with fashion. Like Goldblum, he also rocked a cowboy-style necktie with a patterned ’70s-style suit with flared pants. Like Colman Domingo, he also chose to wear a watch that is typically targeted to women—a two-tone 27 mm TAG Heuer Aquaracer with diamonds. He punctuates the evening by driving home the message that anything goes and that a tiny timepiece might just be the new ultra-cool male accessory.
Glen Powell in a Vacheron Constantin Overseas
Glen Powell was certainly the man of the evening with everyone from red carpet interviewers to the host, Nikki Glaser, fawning over the handsome celeb. This year he was nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for the Golden Globes and brought his parents along to celebrate. He also brought his 41 mm 18-karat pink gold Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual-Time. It felt like the right choice for Hollywood’s golden boy who has proved he’s a hit with a blockbuster (Twister or Top Gun: Maverick anyone?). Given his increasingly busy schedule, his dual timer is no doubt becoming a handy companion.
