Watch Robert De Niro face off against another Robert De Niro in “The Alto Knights ”trailer
"Greatest actor you've ever worked with?" De Niro was asked. "Myself," he replied.
Robert De Niro, who famously called himself the best actor he's ever worked with, goes to war with another Robert De Niro in the trailer for the upcoming biographical crime thriller The Alto Knights.
From Academy Award-winning filmmaker Barry Levinson, the upcoming film formerly titled The Wise Guys stars De Niro in the dual roles of notorious New York crime bosses Frank Costello and Vito Genovese, respectively, as they vie for control over the city's streets.
"Once the best of friends," reads the official synopsis, "petty jealousies and a series of betrayals place them on a deadly collision course that will reshape the Mafia — and America — forever."
The pulsating trailer opens with a tense sit down between Costello and Genovese in a darkly lit table at a restaurant. "You're going down a very dangerous road," warns Costello.

"And we ain't been down dangerous roads before?" says Genovese. "That's the risk you take."
"But you're not where I am," heeds Costello. "I give to charities. I pay my taxes."
Adds Genovese, "Let's remember something. I put you where you are today. It's because of me, Mr. Good Citizen . . . all of a sudden you want to be half in, half out, half a racketeer. You're either in or you're out." A deadly clash soon ensues, gunshots and all.
Written by Goodfellas' Nicholas Pileggi, the thriller, hitting theaters on March 21, also stars Debra Messing, Cosmo Jarvis, Kathrine Narducci, Michael Rispoli, Michael Adler, Ed Amatrudo, Joe Bacino, and Anthony J. Gallo, among others.
The dual roles for De Niro continue his streak of crime boss characters in film, including Goodfellas, The Godfather II, Casino, The Irishman, and Killers of the Flower Moon.
