WATCH: Melania saves Trump from national anthem gaffe

This is the awkward moment Melania Trump is forced to nudge the President to remind him to put his hand on his heart during the national anthem.

The First Lady and Donald Trump were hosting the White House’s Easter Egg Roll when the music for The Star-Spangled Banner began to play on the Truman Balcony.

And while Melania and her son, Barron, immediately raised their hands to their hearts in quick succession, the President wasn’t so smart on the uptake.

When Melania realised that her husband was about to make a huge faux pas she acted like the wing woman everyone needs in such a situation and gave her husband a nudge on the arm.

Trump then realising that he was being watched by the eyes of the world trid to brush the whole thing off by immediately raising his hand to his heart, but it was all caught on camera.

The gaffe happened in front of a 21,000 strong crowd, which included Trump’s daughter Tiffany and his sons Donald Jr and Eric.

Melania, who hosted the event, spoke on the balcony, thanking everyone for coming.

“As we renew this tradition, thank you for joining us on behalf of the President and Barron,” she said, according to The Sun.

“We wish you great fun, and a beautiful day is coming ahead of us.

“Happy Easter.”

The President also took to the mic to address the attendees at the event.

“We will be stronger and bigger and better as a nation than ever before. We are right on track,” he said.

“You see what's happening. We are right on track.”
