He will continue to report to Jen Weinberg, who oversees talent relations, events and awards across those brands.
“It has been a privilege working alongside Austin,” Weinberg said in a statement. “He is a brilliant strategist, a definitive resource to our team and the company, and a great partner – the best in the business.”
Since joining Warner Bros. Discovery, O’Malia has led a team with quite a reputation for awards wins. Max and HBO continue to rake in numerous nominations across each of the major awards shows each year, including the Emmys, where both brands have had the most combined nominations the past three years.
Before WBD, O’Malia served as Vice President of awards and corporate affairs for Showtime. He began his career at CBS Television Distribution, where he worked on publicity for Entertainment Tonight and The Insider.
A graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, O’Malia currently lives with his partner, Andrew Paik, and their Coton de Tulear, Barbara, in Los Angeles’ Beverly Grove neighborhood.
