War widow, 97, gets a second meet with Harry
Daphne Dunne waited patiently all morning to meet her favourite royal.
And in the pouring rain her persistence paid off as she was able to meet Prince Harry for the second time round.
The 97-year-old war widow was parked outside Admiralty House with an esky of beer ready to meet the Prince after he officially launched the countdown to the 2018 Invictus Games.
She then moved to wait with the crowds in Circular Quay, despite the torrential downpour.
Daphne stole a kiss from Harry during his last visit to Sydney in 2015 and was hoping for another.
“It was absolutely wonderful to meet the prince he was a real natural, the girls were all excited and wanted him to meet them but of course he couldn’t,” she told Sunrise this morning.
“They most probably were jealous.”
Although the weather had dampened Harry’s visit to Sydney, Daphne remained optimistic that she would catch a glimpse of the prince again. And she was right!

“He does a lot for everyone but he seems to dote on soldiers that have been wounded,” she says.
“So I think that’s the reason he’s my favourite.”
When Daphne first met Harry by the Opera House in May 2015, after his month-long attachment with the Australian Defence Force, he pointed out the Victoria Cross she wore.
It belonged to her first husband Albert Chowne, awarded to him posthumously after he died in Papua New Guinea in 1945 during the Second World War.
We're so happy for you Daphne!
