Vizsla's Cute 'Bobbing for Apples' Adventure Is Full of Nostalgic Halloween Fun
'Tis the season for all things fall. The leaves are changing, the air is cooling, and it's the perfect time to indulge in one of the season's most beloved activities. For Chicken the Vizsla, it's bobbing for apples, and he's actually pretty good at it.
Kellyn Sanders (@waffles_the_vizsla) shared the autumn-inspired video of Chicken taking part in the solo competition for the best apple of the bunch. Take a look at his bobbing skills and prepare to be impressed!
"Come bob for apples with Chicken," the video begins as the curious Vizsla nibbles, bites, and paws at the buoyant fruit, splashing the water without a care in the world. It looks like the most fun and perfectly in line with the changing of the seasons!
To replicate Chicken's fall-inspired activity with your own pup, grab a clean container, some apples, and water," the video says. It's simple enough and provides "great enrichment and mental stimulation."
"He loved playing and the reward," the clip concludes as Chicken gnaws on his yummy fruit prize.
"Two of Chicken’s favorite things," the caption says with a warning. "As most enrichment should be, this should be supervised if you want to do this with your pup! Be mindful of how much apple your pup is eating. Also, make sure your pup is NOT eating the seeds! We did this activity in the shower because Chicken loves to splash."
The idea struck a chord with many of Chicken's 181k fans, inspiring them to try something similar with their dogs, adding other things to put in the water including ice cubes, cut up watermelon, cucumber or their favorite treats

Vizslas Need A Lot of Mental and Physical Stimulation
In general, dogs need a decent amount of dedicated exercise and mental enrichment activities to be at their best. Vizslas, however, need quite a bit more of both than the typical breed, thanks to their hunting origins. According to PetMD, Vizslas are highly active and require at least 7 hours of exercise per week as well plenty of brain stimulating training to keep their busy minds sharp.
This breed, known as "the Velcro Dog," bonds closely to their pet parents and hate to be left alone, but it's their incredible intelligence and need for training that makes them stand-out pups for the right active lifestyle family. Vizslas are sensitive and need constant positive encouragement in their training, but in return, they're one of the smartest, most eager-to-please dogs who will happily do as you ask.
With this level of energy, Vizslas excel at agility, swimming, jogging, or any high-octane activity, and like Chicken, they're great at mental puzzles that tickle their brains. This is an amazing breed who will be the perfect addition to families that will be willing to invest the time with training and exercise—and maybe even bobbing for apples!
