The risqué noughties trend making a comeback

From the Kardashians to the Hadids and Jennifer Lopez herself - it looks like one of noughties’ most risqué and divisive trends is making a big comeback.

The visible thong has been spotted across social media and even on fashion runways and we’re not quite sure how we feel about it.

Kim Kardashian last week shared her praise for this new Givenchy look, but some of her fans weren’t too keen on the peek-a-boo at the back.

“Love you but that thong just cheapens the outfit,” one person commented.

“Kim and Skims are bringing back fashion from the 2000s and instead of perceiving the thong as an error, it is an accessory,” was another person’s take.

UK glamour model Nicola McLean is all for the look.

“Not only does a peekaboo thong look cheeky, sexy and iconic, it’s also an unapologetic message of female empowerment,” she told The Sun.

“If I want to show a thong it’s my right as a woman to do it — and I don’t care what anybody thinks. And who better to bring the thong back into the mainstream than Kim Kardashian?”

The cheeky look was made famous by the likes of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, but it soon disappeared.

Or so we thought.

JLo recently showed off a matching pants and thong set which is something we haven’t seen before.

While supermodel Bella Hadid showed off another designer version at the 2020 Versace fashion show, proving just how back the trend really is.
