Viral TikTok shows how to actually fill an ice cube tray

A viral TikTok video has revealed how you're actually meant to fill your pesky ice cube trays without the water going everywhere, proving we’ve all likely been doing it wrong all these years.

And it turns out the flat bits between the cubes are there for a reason!

TikTok user @4jmjcbitxh shared a video revealing that if you run the stream of water over the flat spot on the ice tray it will fill the tray smoothly and allow and even amount to spread across the four cubes that it connects. Once those ones are full you can move down the line.

TikTok users were quick to share their shock at the hack with one writing, "I was today years old when I found this out. You’re not alone hahaha."

Another wrote, "Omg. Every god damn time I fill up the tray I wonder if others do the same thing!!!"

Someone else said, "Not in all my FORTY YEARS!!!! [What the hell] man!"

A fourth added, "I literally did not know this.. i thought it was to help you pick the ice cubes out LOL."

Others joked that the trays needed to come with instruction manuals and that TikTok taught them more than school.

Some suggested that if you just angle the tray downward and run the water from the top to the bottom it would fill up in a few seconds.
