A Fresh New Way to Make Green Beans, According to @KaleJunkie

These Brown Butter Green Beans with Toasted Pistachios and Lemony Whipped Feta sounds and looks fancy, but it's simpler than you may think and it will change the way you feel about green beans. Move over green bean casserole, there's a new green bean dish in town!

The green beans are cooked in brown butter and tossed in a mixture of crushed pistachios, cinnamon, cumin and everything bagel seasoning. Once the beans are cooked, they're placed on top of whipped feta for what Nicole calls "a flavor party in your mouth." For some extra flair, the dish is garnished with pomegranate seeds.

You can find the full recipe on Nicole's Instagram page, but you will need pistachios, everything bagel seasoning, cumin, cinnamon, fresh green beans and unsalted butter for the bean part. For the Lemony Whipped Feta, you'll need feta, greek yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil and garlic.

To make this dish, you cook the green beans until they are tender but still crisp. The best way to do this is to boil them for about 5 minutes. As they are boiling, chop the pistachios and place them in a bowl with the spices. Mix this together and place the beans in a bowl of ice water to cool. Let them sit for a few minutes, then drain and dry them.

Melt some butter in a large skillet until it darkens. Reduce heat to low and add three-fourths of the pistachio mixture. Add in the beans and sauté for about 5 minutes. Remove that from the heat and set aside.

As that cools, make the whipped feta by blending the ingredients in a food processor until it's smooth and fluffy. Spread the whipped feta evenly on the bottom of a serving platter and top it with the green beans and remaining pistachio mixture. Garnish with pomegranate seeds (optional, but recommended) and a bit of lemon zest.

This colorful dish looks absolutely incredible and it will elevate the way you make green beans this Thanksgiving! We think it would also be a great addition to your December holiday table. The red and green color combo is perfect for the season. We're also keeping the whipped feta recipe in our back pocket for using with other sauteed or roasted veggies (carrots and cauliflower come to mind) or even as a fun dip for the holiday snack season.
