The View’s Whoopi Goldberg Slams Trump Press Secretary Over Anti-Woke Comments: She ‘Really Pissed Me Off’ (Watch)
Whoopi Goldberg had a few choice words to say about White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s anti-woke comment during her first briefing on Wednesday’s episode of The View.
The co-host came out guns blazing as she addressed Leavitt’s comment that President Trump’s administration would be free of any wokeness in response to his anti-trans executive order. Goldberg said the comment “pissed me off,” and chastised Leavitt by saying, “Without that wokeness, you might not have that job.”

Goldberg went on to explain that for many years women were not “invited to that table” when it came to many professional arenas in the country, including politics. Her stance also included wokeness being set in place to help women of all backgrounds and “that’s why we fought. That’s what we were fighting for, so that you can stand in that podium.”
“The wokeness was put in place for a reason,” she said. “Because Black people couldn’t get into college, because women could not get into the colleges they wanted to go to. This is all women. … It was a man’s world, and we busted our asses to make sure that this was a person’s world.

The View co-hosts also discussed the White House’s decision to open the press room to new media, including influencers, podcasters, and smaller news outlets. Both Alyssa Farah Griffin and Sara Haines agreed it was a good move, seeing as a majority of Americans consume their news through social media. Goldberg was open to the idea, but she feels that the “proof is in the pudding,” while Sunny Hostin argued that press room credentials should only be given to qualified journalists.
