“The View” stars celebrate living 'rent-free' in Donald Trump's head after he slams show, calls for Rosie O'Donnell return

Trump spoke at a Catholic event earlier this week, where he criticized the cohosts, prompting Sunny Hostin to celebrate the fact that he admitted he watches the show.

The View cohosts have officially declared Donald Trump's brain as one of the talk show's satellite offices.

After Trump again criticized the program's stars — and called for the return of his longtime foe and ex-View star Rosie O'Donnell — while speaking Thursday on stage at the Catholic-leaning Alfred E. Smith Memorial Dinner charity event, legal expert Sunny Hostin celebrated the development by staking an official claim in Trump's headspace.

On Friday, the program played a clip of Trump calling The View a "stupid show" and claiming that its ratings have tanked, while also claiming to know each cohost personally (a claim Ana Navarro strongly denied on the air) and advocating for the return of O'Donnell to boost the show's profile.

"I have seen him and he has seen me, so we have met, because I covered his trial," Hostin jabbed, referencing her tenure in the room (with her iconic binoculars) during his hush-money trial in New York City earlier this year, which led to his conviction on 34 felony counts.

Conservative panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin, who resigned from Trump's White House communications team in 2020 before subsequently speaking out against her prior boss, added that "he apparently came after me on a podcast and said he didn't know me and never met me, despite that I worked for him," and cited such a claim as a sign that "he's slowing down" in her estimation.

"He's losing it," Hostin added. "You know what? Isn't it such a enjoyable thing to live rent-free in his head? We live rent-free in this man's head."

Griffin quipped that his mind is "a scary place to be," while Hostin continued, looking directly into the camera to wave to Trump: "I enjoy it, and I enjoy that he has admitted now at least three to four times that he watches the show. Thank you! Thank you, Donald! Hi!"

As for the show's ratings, a recent release from The View notes that the show ranked No. 1 in terms of total daytime talk viewers for the week of Oct. 7, courting 2.6 million viewers, with the show's Oct. 8 interview with Vice President Kamala Harris marking the program's most-watched telecast since 2021.

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to representatives for Trump for comment.

Trump's criticism of the show marks the latest in his verbal tirades against the program, including when he called View moderator Whoopi Goldberg's comedic style "filthy dirty" and "disgusting" at a recent campaign event — a claim that Goldberg responded to on the air.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC.
