The View stars are tapping into the ring after the controversial Rep. Nancy Mace's meltdown at a recent House hearing led to the conservative politician challenging Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett to meet her "outside" amid the political gathering — which the panelists interpreted as Mace challenging Crockett to a fight.

One day after footage surfaced of Mace and Crockett verbally sparring at the hearing (Mace exploded after Crockett used a colloquialism that Mace received as if Crockett called her a "child"), Joy Behar quipped that the exchange sounded "like The View sometimes."

"We have never taken it outside," cohost Sara Haines added, before moderator Whoopi Goldberg scolded Mace for her behavior as well as her recent anti-trans tirades.

"I don't know whether she doesn't realize that when we're talking to people, I say, 'Look, girl, chile,' whatever. She has a difficult time recognizing [that]," Goldberg added. "But, I don't understand why she's so concerned about trans athletes and not concerned about the price of groceries."

Haines reiterated that Crockett's usage of the word "chile," as Goldberg pointed out, is "colloquial," and that "we all knew what it meant" when Crockett said it. "What got me is that [Rep. Mace] was talking about it with big crosses in her [earrings]. Something tells me this is not what Jesus would do in this situation."

Behar joked that conservatives need to "leave Jesus alone" because "the man is busy."

Conservative cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin called the clash a "clown show" in American government, while Behar speculated that Mace "just wants to be on TV" and then invited her to "come on this show" to face the panel.

Legal expert Sunny Hostin felt that the argument was "uncivilized" and "so wild," ahead of outlining its deeper meaning to her.

"The trope of the angry Black woman is used so often, and I wonder where the trope of the angry white woman is, because I'd like to see her, for asking a Black woman to, 'meet me outside' or 'catch me outside,' called an angry white woman," Hostin continued. "Let us be clear, this was never about qualifications, this was never about DEI, we all know what this was about."

Goldberg closed the discussion by bringing the topic back to the issue of trans people under constant attack from conservative politicians.

"Less than 1 percent of folks are trans. Why we are lighting this fire?" Goldberg asked. "There's more there. Nancy, you can be a hero."

It wasn't clear what Goldberg meant when she said that Mace could be a hero, though Hostin added anyway that "she doesn't have the qualifications to be a hero" and that Mace is "in the Sunken Place," referencing the fictional dark void made famous by Jordan Peele's Oscar-winning 2017 horror film Get Out.

In a statement Tuesday on X, Mace again said that she is "no child," adding: "If I wanted a physical fight, you’d know it. That’s not what this was."

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to representatives for Mace for comment.

Panelists on The View have a long history with Rep. Mace, after Goldberg got into a tense debate with the politician on an October 2023 episode of the show over abortion rights, while Haines previously took a stance against Mace's views on trans people when she called her a "bullying troll" in November 2024.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC.
