“The View”'s Joy Behar calls out Gayle King's fear over upcoming space flight: 'Why is she doing it?'

Behar, 82, also revealed on the "Behind the Table" podcast whether or not she'd travel to space in the future.

In space, no one can hear Joy Behar's notoriously interruptive cell phone go off at The View's Hot Topics table — and the longtime comedian and cohost is noting that fellow TV personality Gayle King might be too apprehensive to experience such celestial silence when she travels to space as part of an upcoming crew of all-female celebrities that also includes Katy Perry.

After King, host of CBS Mornings revealed in February that she'd soon blast off into orbit via billionaire Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin company, Behar reacted to the development on Tuesday's episode of The View's companion podcast Behind the Table.

After producer Brian Teta — fresh from his on-air Whoopi Goldberg encounter — brought up the topic of celebrity space travel, Behar, 82, pointed out that King, 70, is "shaking in her boots" over the impending trip.

"I saw a thing on social about that. She's scared," Behar said. "Why is she doing it?"

Teta then turned the question back on Behar: "Is there any version of you that would be interested in doing this?" he asked, noting that he'd like to get a View cohost into orbit at some point.

"Never, no, not in this lifetime or the next or the one after that," Behar quickly replied, before speculating that Sara Haines would be "the most game" of all current cohosts to take the risk.

Naturally, this led to a live View ambush, with Teta and Behar cold-calling Haines during the recording.

"We just got a feeler out from the Blue Origin people, Jeff Bezos, is there a world where you'd consider going up on the Blue Origin rocket?" Teta asked Haines, who immediately replied, "I'd consider it."

Later, before moving on to a different topic, Teta told Behar, "Whoopi said, 'Hell no'" when he asked the EGOT-winning Hollywood icon if she'd blast off alongside King and Perry.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, King revealed that she's "psyched" but "nervous" to go on the space mission and that she's already had crew meetings with her fellow travelers. She previously noted that she consulted her children and longtime friend Oprah Winfrey before confirming her spot on the mission.

"Once Kirby and Will and Oprah was fine with it, I was fine," King said on CBS Mornings in February. "I thought Oprah would say no, no. She said, 'I think if you don't do it when they all come back and you had the opportunity to do it, you will be kicking yourself.' She's right."
