US rapper Ice Spice has finally addressed the wave of backlash she has faced since turning up 30 minutes late to her set at the Wildlands Festival in Brisbane.

Ice Spice, whose real name is Isis Gaston, was a headliner at the festival that also ran in Perth and Adelaide in the new year.

During the Brisbane edition on New Year’s Eve, Gaston was booed off stage after turning up 30 minutes late to her set.

When she finally did hit the stage, the 25-year-old further angered fans when her microphone was turned off by event organisers just five minutes into her set to make way for the next artist amid the looming 12.30am curfew.

The tardy New York rapper reportedly then walked up and down the stage mic-less while fans booed her.

She then flashed a peace sign to the crowd before dawdling off stage.

With tickets costing upwards of $180, fans were furious about the ordeal.

Taking to social media, one fan asked: “Can someone explain to me how/why artists are late for their sets at a festival? They’re usually at the festival all day so like what makes them late?”

“Idk why people are surprised. Who even likes Ice Spice any way?” another replied.

Despite initially remaining silent, Gaston finally addressed the backlash during the Perth edition of the festival on Saturday.

“I’m sorry guys, surely y’all can forgive me,” she was quoted as saying. “It was my birthday and it takes a long time to look like a Barbie,” she told the crowd.

Gaston then started rapping Barbie World, a collaboration between her and fellow rapper Nicki Minaj.

Ice Spice’s last set in Australia was on Sunday at Wildlands in Adelaide.
