'Iconic': Joe Biden's 'victory jog' goes viral
Twitter has exploded after US President-elect Joe Biden jogged onto the stage for his victory speech, with people online dubbing the moment ‘iconic’.
The 77-year-old wore a face mask as he ran out to a cheering crowd in Wilmington, Delaware, before giving his address to nation, even earning himself a new nickname: JOG-Biden.
“The Joe Biden jog is iconic,” one person wrote on Twitter.
“That jog out to the stage was EVERYTHING,” another agreed.
While a third tweeted: “Joe Biden with the confident jog is killin meeeee.
No doubt the moment will also go down in meme-history, with many banking on the fact the jog would spark a variety of them almost immediately.
“The new TikTok dance is the Joe Biden jog,” one person said.
With another adding: “The Joe Biden jog will be memed into eternity.”
In his speech, Biden said he was elated at his and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris’ incredible win.
“Folks, the people of this nation have spoken. They have delivered us a clear victory. A convincing victory,” Biden told the crowd.
“A victory for we, the people, we have won with the most votes of all counts ever cast in a presidential ticket in the history of the nation, 74 million!”
“We have seen all over this nation, all cities and all parts of the country and indeed across the world, an outpouring of joy, of hope, renewed faith in tomorrow. To bring a better day!”.
Biden said the victory was the honour of his lifetime.
“And now, the work of making that vision is real. It is a task, the task, of our time. Folks, as I said many times before, I'm Jill's husband.
“And I would not be here without her love and tireless support of Jill and my son Hunter and my daughter Ashley and all of their grandchildren and their spouses and all of our family. They are my heart.”
