Tyra Banks' awkward blunder on live Dancing with the Stars

Tyra Banks was forced to quickly fix an awkward mistake during the two-hour live broadcast of Dancing with the Stars in the US on Monday night.

Production issues caused some last-minute chaos, which saw Tyra mix up the bottom two couples in danger of elimination.

Tyra, who is also an executive producer on the show, was forced to tell contestants Monica Aldama and Val Chmerkovskiy, whom she previously announced as safe, that they were actually in the bottom two.

“There has been an error in our control room, but we're making it happen,” Tyra said during the broadcast.

“This is live TV, right?”

She apologised repeatedly and was ultimately able to get the situation figured out and eliminate the proper couple.

However, Tyra replaced long-time hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews this season, a change which was met with a lot of backlash from fans.

So this mishap, which led to confusion as to which couples were even vulnerable to elimination, had fans calling her out on social media.

“You know... this live TV snafu would NEVER have happened under Tom Bergeron’s watch,”one person said.

“Hey @DancingABC how long before you apologise to Tom and Erin. Bring them back and I'll watch the show again, instead of just reading tweets about what a train wreck it has become,” another person said on Twitter.

“Send Tyra home,” another simply posted.
