Twitter goes nuts over Kim Kardashian’s 40th birthday

Coinciding with the start of Scorpio season, which is already cursed, Kim Kardashian rang in her 40th birthday with a trip to a private island with her “closest inner circle.”

As the rest of the world continues to grapple with the effects of the pandemic, Kardashian tried her best to share photos of the occasion with a slice of humble pie — although it didn’t exactly work.

“After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time,” Kardashian tweeted.

“I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is,” she added.

The “right now” in her last tweet is doing a lot of heavy lifting, seeing as the number of people who could fly a group of people to a private island pre-pandemic is pretty much limited to the Kardashian-Jenner family tree.

According to TMZ, Kardashian rented out her own Boeing 777 to fly everyone to the island, where guests were handed keys to their own private villas. Apparently, the island had reported no coronavirus cases and everyone was tested in the weeks leading up to the trip.

In what I consider a very funny part of the birthday itinerary, the group was also treated to a private screening of Judd Apatow’s movie, “This Is 40,” on the beach.

But of course, this was not Kardashian’s only birthday celebration. Her birthday, which is actually Oct. 21, was previously honored with a surprise party that paid homage to her previous 39 birthday parties and featured a dance performance by her sisters.

No stranger to being turned into memes herself, Kardashian’s private island party was mercilessly mocked by Twitter.
