New twist after report iconic children's show Bluey will be cancelled

The team behind the iconic children's cartoon Bluey has hit back at claims the show is coming to an end.

Daily Mail reported on Wednesday that the Australian cartoon would cease filming after its third season because the voice of the young actor behind Bluey was "maturing".

Bluey has been on televisions across Australia for four years, with 130 episodes aired.

According to the reports, insiders said it was unlikely a season four would be created, as producers are currently working on the 26 episodes of the third season.

"It has been one of if not the hardest and most heartbreaking decisions the producers have had to make," the insider at production studio Ludo said.

"The show is obviously so profitable. But its legacy is also seen as more important than anything else so the idea is to 'go out on a high'."

The publication also reported that Bluey's distributor at the BBC did not comment on whether the show would be coming to an end.

Bluey team hit back at 'inaccurate' report

Since the rumours of the show ending emerged, Ludo has said it is "inaccurate".

“We absolutely love Bluey and there are no plans to end the show," a spokesperson told news.com.au.

“We always finish a season before planning the next one and right now we’re halfway through series three and really excited about the future – we can’t wait to share new episodes.”

The official Bluey Twitter account also addressed the speculation.

"The community of fans around the world continue to blow us away and if we ever had an update on Bluey's future you'd hear it from us first."

In 2019, Bluey won a Kids Emmy for its 'Sleepytime' episode.
