We Tried 11 Alani Nu Energy Drink Flavors and We Could Drink the Winning Flavor Every Day
Although brands like Monster Energy and Red Bull have been around for years, energy drinks have never been my thing. My husband and oldest son have been downing various brands for years, but every time I tried one it was too medicinal for me.
Then one day I saw a friend enjoying something out of a pretty can (Yes, that was the first thing that caught my attention!) and she told me it was her favorite energy drink, Alani Nu—or simply Alani as we fans call them.
When I heard the flavor names, I became more intrigued and ventured to a few stores to stock up. That was a few months ago, and now I am a full-fledged superfan. I always keep Alani stocked in my fridge, and when that friend or I see our favorite flavors on sale, we always grab a couple for each other. That's what friends are for, right?
The only issue? There are a lot of Alani new flavors, which can make decision-making a bit difficult. To help you grab the can that's right for you, we've ranked the 11 best Alani Nu flavors. Read on for which ones to grab when you need a little midday pick-me-up.

Hawaiian Shaved Ice
Breezeberry
Cherry Slush
Dreamsicle
Pink Slush
Cherry Twist
Orange Kiss
Tropsicle
Juicy Peach
Watermelon Wave
Cosmic Stardust
Blue Slush

Where Can I Buy Alani Nu Energy Drinks?
While the Alani Nu website lists all of their flavors, in my experience most stores only carry a few of them at a time. In my area, I can easily find most at Walmart, Target, Meijer, Kroger and sometimes even Dollar General! They also release new flavors occasionally, so be on the lookout for those on store shelves, because you never know when a new can will catch your eye.

How We Tested the Alani Nu Energy Drinks
As I've mentioned, I'm a BIG Alani Nu fan, so I've had all of these flavors multiple times. I based this ranking on my personal Alani Nu drinking experience, which is vast. If I needed a refresher on any of the flavors, I cracked open a can a took a sip. As you'll see below, I was drinking a can of Alani Nu as I wrote up this ranking. If that's not dedication to the craft, I'm not sure what is.
11 Alani Nu Flavors, Ranked Worst to Best
When it comes to taste testing Alani, I'm already an expert, but some flavors aren't readily available in my area, so only eleven made the list!
11. Watermelon Wave
When this one was released Alani described it as having orange, cherry and grape notes along with the watermelon, but I mostly tasted the watermelon. Ironically while I am a huge fan of the fruit itself, watermelon-flavored foods usually don't sit well with me, and this Alani was no exception. I love the flavor of a perfectly ripe watermelon, but this tastes too artificial to me, (As does most watermelon-flavored candies, juices, gum...so it might just be me!)
What does Alani Watermelon Wave taste like? The closest thing I can compare it to is a Watermelon Jolly Rancher candy. Sweet with just a little sour.
10. Breezeberry
While the name might not give many clues to this flavor, the blue raspberries on the can help! This one is a little tart for me, and I swear I can taste some lemon in there as well. I normally like sour things, and blue raspberry slushes are one of my favorites, but this one left a weird aftertaste in my mouth that I didn't enjoy.
What does Alani Breezeberry taste like? The first thing I thought of when I was drinking this was blue raspberry lemonade, and I must not be too far off because one Reddit user said the same thing!
9. Juicy Peach
This flavor has probably been the most disappointing on my Alani journey so far. I am a huge peach fan from picked from the tree to peach iced tea and peach desserts, but once again, this didn't have enough natural peach flavor for me. I have drunk a few even though the first didn't impress me, hoping I would change my mind, but sadly no.
What does Juicy Peach Alani taste like? Eating too many peach ring candies. The peach flavor tastes more like it is man-created than coming from an actual fresh juicy peach.
8. Blue Slush
The name not only gives it away but nails the flavor leaving no guessing. Didn't we all go through a phase as kids when blue raspberry-flavored anything was our favorite? Fighting over that blue freeze pop on a hot summer day? Online comments suggest a slight blueberry flavor, but for me, it's a little more tart than that.
What does Alani Blue Slush taste like? A blue raspberry slush straight from the machine. Sweet and sour, it will take you back to your childhood after the first sip.
7. Orange Kiss
If you're an orange fan, this Alani will hit all the right notes. It's like getting your daily Vitamin C dose in every sip! If orange soda is your go-to fountain drink, you will love this one! Perfect to start your day with, it is an energy drink to enjoy with breakfast.
What does Orange Kiss Alani taste like? There is no mystery to this one. Pure orange juice, except with bubbles. So maybe oj mixed with sparkling water. One online reviewer compared it to the flavor of Airborne too!
6. Cosmic Stardust
If any of the top six flavors on this list didn't exist, this could have landed higher, but choices had to be made. When I was an Alani novice, I asked my friend what this one tasted like and her description was spot on. (Read below to find. out!) A combination of grape and other berry flavors, I think the grape stands out more.
What does Cosmic Stardust Alani taste like? Just like Skittles candy. That is how it was first described to me, and it is true. I will take it one step further and say like a mouthful of Skittles when you mix all the colors!
5. Cherry Twist
This is the point on the list where things got very tricky. I'm a big cherry limeade fan, and this was love at first sip. The sweetness of cherry and tartness of lime is the perfect twist. Pour it over ice, add a slice of fresh lime and a few maraschino cherries to take it over the top!
What does Alani Cherry Twist taste like? An ice-cold Sonic Cherry Limeade. Since all of the Sonics in our city closed, this is the closest flavor I have found and I am 100% here for it!
4. Hawaiian Shaved Ice
I will fully admit the first time I tried this flavor, the can made its way into my cart because it is pretty. After all, we all eat and drink with our eyes first, right? Since the name doesn't give too much away, I was curious—and maybe a little nervous. It was a great decision because it reminds me of a refreshing fruit party punch. I taste strawberry, but I can't pinpoint what other fruits are included, but the combination is yummy!
What does Alani Hawaiian Shaved Ice Taste Like? When you get a snow cone or shaved ice and add multiple fruit syrups, but they all blend so you can't pick out just one anymore.
3. Dream Float
Some Alani fans just read that and are ready to throw down. Dream Float is a top choice among Alani fans. And you'll get no argument from me. It is delicious, but there are two I enjoy more. This orange flavor does differ from Orange Kiss. It's smooth and a little subtler thanks to an extra layer of vanilla-like sweetness.
What does Alani Dream Float taste like? A creamsicle popsicle fresh from the ice cream truck! Or an orange vanilla ice cream float!
2. Cherry Slush
Another one that doesn't leave a lot to the imagination, this cherry-flavored drink lover is a huge fan. In fact, I'm sipping a can of this as I type! The cherry-ness is bold and on point! One Reddit user complained it tasted like cough medicine, but I disagree wholeheartedly!
What does Alani Cherry Slush taste like? A bright red cherry slush, snow cone or slurpy that leaves your tongue stained and heart happy.
1. Pink Slush
The newest flavor to the Alani lineup, this has been the hit of the summer. This flavor is a bit of a unicorn and can be hard to find but is so worth the hunt. A mix of strawberries and cream, I could drink this every day and not tire of it. It's so smooth, refreshing, sweet and satisfying, I feel like I have had dessert when I finish that last sip!
What does Alani Pink Slush taste like? Those strawberry and vanilla cream rolls you can buy in the bakery! Or if you've never had them, think strawberry milkshake!
